Be careful a lot of these dogs won't be fully wound up tonight.  One kennel that always has them 100% from the start is Rab and Liz McNair.  He always goes in with the attitude of every round is a cup final because if you don't get through there is no point having more in the tank next week.

Very true Arb, thanks for reminding. It’s all about the qualifying.

Yeah, nothing major stake-wise for me.

The McNair point is a good one, Eden in the first is potentially the best bet of their first round runners.

How do serious greyhound punters approach the heats?

I presume the chance to get a decent bet on at near 100% books (or even better) the morning of a race is very much not the norm during any other time of the year. Obviously this is a lot more competitive but I am guessing this should be a decent staking time for a lot?

You won't get a serious bet on these heats in the morning at these prices if you are a serious punter any more than you will any normal race any other day.  Baldfred is creating most of these 100% or sub 100% books with huge prices on all the rags so unless you can get involved with bald and want to back these rags it doesn't seem priced up much different to a normal decent open race card.  No idea why bald is going so big so many rags in the heats compared to his competitors.

This is some preview of every dog in the race.  Wouldn't have liked to have guessed how long that took to write!

Funny you say that, was in a Baldy this pm and someone who presume was a reg was backing or trying to back a bunch of rags tonight. They laid him a fair whack after a phone call which seemed fair

they are going 100/1 about dogs everyone else is 25/1, 12/1 everyone else is 8/1, 25/1 everyone else is 16/1.  Just seems a bit random as a strategy.  multiple rags as well in every heat of the derby not just one dog a race

show starts at 6pm.  Shame they took Newcastle off for the derby and kept Yarmouth.  Newcastle graded at top level is as good as minor opens elsewhere.

Not that i ever like going against scotty but solely on the offer I’m back8ng Forest West @ 9/4 with coral who will give up to £25 back as a free bet if the selection wins at 2/1+. From what I can see that is the only one that they are not ducking best price on and both Rosney and Fortune think it will win so I’m happy to give it a spin.
