Most people will have heard the sad news of Towcester Racecourse
going into administration.  I have had no official personal contact from Towcester
but with no racing this weekend or the foreseeable future I have this morning
agreed to move our complete kennel strength to Henlow.
I would like to thank Kevin Boothby for giving me the chance to guarantee
a future for my staff, owners and dogs and look forward
to working with them from next week.
I will contact all my owners personally throughout today,

Mark Wallis

The game is gone when Henlow's gaff track gets the Champion trainers kennel.

Like is said, was there the other day and had a lot to be desired. Anyway I’m sure he is just doing what he needs to for the future of his kennel and staff.

From Greyhound Star

Champion trainer Mark Wallis has confirmed that he is to join Henlow with immediate effect.

The Lakenheath based handler heard of the impending administration of Towcester on Wednesday night and was in immediate contract with Henlow promoter Kevin Boothby.

Wallis said: “I have reached verbal agreement with Kevin and will begin trialling dogs next week; the track is currently being relaid. My first priority has to be my family, seven staff and owners and joining Henlow will bring that security. I almost went broke after Walthamstow closed by joining Harlow and then Yarmouth, and I can’t afford to get into that position again.

“Joining Henlow was an easy decision to make, I have always enjoyed racing there and supporting their opens. Had it not been for trying to be loyal to the Towcester graded strength, I would have been there even more often.

“I have 45 graded dogs plus 20 trialling and about a dozen open racers. I reckon 90% of the owners will come with us, and am confident of replacing any lost runners with owners who would like to have runners at Henlow.

“I am deeply saddened with the loss of Towcester. It is a big loss to greyhound racing and the absolute perfect place to stage the Greyhound Derby.

“From a graded perspective, Towcester wasn’t ideal with four meetings so close to each other at the weekend. Henlow is closer to the kennel and the schedule suits me better.

Kevin Huttons twitter says he has had offers from other tracks and is considering his options.

The trainers will have offers flying at them.  Most are top class kennels with good dogs and there is a massive shortage of dogs at most tracks.

Sad Towcester news, sad greyhound news. Surprised with Wallis going to Henlow, although my grasp of English geography is extremely poor and location may be a reason.

Champion Stakes tomorrow and am going to throw some big priced each way darts if I can get the best price.

Kanturk Repeat 25/1
Westway Turk 25/1
Thor Tagg 40/1
Chopchop Gemini 80/1

Those are best prices and that's the only prices I'd want on at so might not be able to back all.

Start of the Irish Derby tonight. Couple of bets for me.

20:40 T5 Slippy Cian 2.25 with Fred probably goes off evens. Got the speed to beat Rafa in T4 out the traps and to the bend. Should hold T6. Leads and wins. 2pts win.

21:40 T1 Ballymac Bolger 2.25 with Fred, has had a comeback run last week after being off the track since Feb. A few months ago was 16/1 fav for the Derby (now 40/1 best price with Fred) looks like it needs T1 and should come on for its comeback run. Should be far to good for these. 2pts win.

Also 4pts double with Fred @5.0 and 2 pts ew @ 40/1 outright with Fred on Bolger.

If these come in I may do Droopys Neymar in the lucky last, currently 3.5 in a few places, up and com8ng young speedster for Pat Buckley, think we can take on the fav in T2 at the prices who will probably start odds on.

If anyone wants to watch these will probably be on WH dog TV I think.

Sorry mate, was working. As far as I'm aware you can watch Romford through whichever site you punt through.

3 of 4 through to the semis next week, lost the biggest priced one.
