Have you ever seen Our Friends in the North?   It is getting quite old now but is top, top class imo.
Seconded - brilliant British drama.

18 years old, sheesh.

This got me thinking about series I should rewatch, anyone remember GBH? Michael Palin being brilliant? Oh I wonder if it will stand up to the passing of time.

Basically watched the whole first series today (it got me through 330 games  Grin) and really enjoyed what I saw on it.  Loved the part where they arrested the NBA player and were fighting over who got to go to the bookies first.  Also the bit where they were looking for a mugger who was working with a stripper to get people into and alleyway and using it as an excuse to try and shag strippers.  Incredible scenes.

Got the DVD boxset at home, but never got round to watching it.
Remember loving it when it was on TV.
Michael Lyndsay was brilliant, slowly losing his mind as the series went on.

Also new HBO starts Sunday, The Leftovers. 2% of the population of the world disappear, getting good reviews already

http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/review-hbos-the-leftovers-a-tour-de-force-of-devastation-and-grief

Just watched the first one of these. You can pretty much guess what it's like from the fact that one of the guys behind it was also behind Lost - lots of slightly weird stuff going on which (because it's the first episode) they can get away with explaining nothing, basically throwing stuff at the wall and you can't help but suspect that it will all fall apart at some point.

Very reminiscent of FlashForward, which very quickly turned into one of the crappiest TV series ever.

I'll still give it a chance as it's got Christopher Ecclestone in it, along with Ann Dowd (who is a very good actress who really should have got an Oscar nomination a couple of years ago for a film called Compliance) but I'm prepared for it to get frustrating quickly. After Lost we're not going to fall for this kind of shit any more.
