Yeah, that annoyed me last week tom. Needed an alarm but was away with no charger so had to leave the phone on and hope the battery held. Would've just turned off my old nokia

Why not shut down all your other processes down at night? Battery lasts for days like that.

You can't set the alarm and then turn the phone off with smart phones,
Retrograde step imo.
I think you'll find that's the case with any phone? If you turn it off, why would you expect the alarm to work?
No. All my previous phones, (Mostly Nokia) You could set the alarm and then turn it off. It would still "wake up" and ring.
Mine still goes off after the phone has died from battery. (Nokia)

Advisable to upgrade to 2.3.4 at the earliest opportunity (to check your phone's OS version, click on menu -> settings -> About phone), and to avoid using open wi-fi networks (which is good advice in general), and also to use the google two-step verification.

I doubt you'd lose anything, probably gain a lot of functionality though.
I'm on a modded version so have to wait until the newest version has been modded before I can upgrade. Others just have to wait for the upgrade to become available I think.

Anybody got an Android tablet yet? I'm seriously thinking of getting an Asus Eee Pad. Although nowhere has them in stock, which is annoying. Android 3 Honeycomb optimised apps are apparently in reasonably short supply - any decent ones anyone knows of?

I got a tab, happy with it, got it over an Ifad as it seemed a lot more sensibly sized.
So far I have used it for betting on horses whilst in the pub.
It performed the above task well.

I have a Motorola xt720.
The camera shutter sound is very loud.
There is no "Turn off shutter sound" option.
(The law in some countries, including the one where this phone was made, insist that the phone makes a noise when taking a picture).
I would like to find a working app that allows me to mute my native camera.
I have tried "Silent Snap". It doesn't work.

Camera360 has the option to turn the sound off.

Does that allow me to use my native camera do you know?
