Man, tried to post 2 very long, big updates with so much strategy/hands in and both times the forum somehow went down in the time and I lost it all. Anyways, 3rd time lucky.

So last time I blogged I think I was contemplating going to Monte Carlo or not and had decided I'd probably go to Vegas for 3 weeks instead of 7 because I was really unsure where to stay and didnt want to be in a casino/hotel for so long especially as there was so little time off between MC/SCOOP/VEGAS.

Fast forward a few days and a very good friend of mine managed to snag an apartment in Panorama towers for me for the whole series. When I was a 18 year old kid getting into poker I used to see this baller poker players living in Panorama and I was so jealous of them, thats what I wanted! It was an inspiration for so long. Anyway my friend who I speak about a lot who got me into poker was exactly the same and he;s the guy I'm flying out with me for the last 2 weeks of the series so he is really excited too. Panorama is a luxury apartment building just next to Aria etc in perfect location, its also actually cheaper than the hotels because on nights like EDC etc you still pay the standard nightly rate. Usually you can not get anything resembling a short term rental, especially in the summer, but I managed to find a friends friend who got pregnant and has to leave the city for the summer and I used my one time!

I also fly to Monaco on Wednesday which I'm looking forward to. I'm going to treat it as a relaxation holiday with potentially playing poker. I will prepare great for the main event and the 5k, and I will play other events but only if I feel amazing, I won't set alarms to get up and start playing poker tournaments, I will get my body and mind in a great place for SCOOP.

Last few sessions have again been somewhat frustrating, I was getting stacks and stacks everywhere but not converting. Last year I was really loud about the fact that when I get deep in tournaments I generally close quite often, so it was frustrating this year to just not go my way.  Managed to break my duck and won the Crocodile on 888 officially for around 21k? Makes me a winning player on 888 finally and a nice score and confidence boost.

Over the last 10 days theres no way anybody in the world has studied as much poker as I have. I've played very little and went over around 80 hand histories and watched around 10-15 hours worth of videos and then did some private coaching myself and then some mental coaching with Elliot. Feeling good.

It's pretty funny at 9pm on the break, I had finished 15th in the 265ko with 20k ftw and then some 30ths in the hot75 and some other good tournaments and I went to get a glass of water and imagined myself asking European if he will back me in 3 months when I lose everything in Monaco/SCOOP/Vegas, poker is such a results orientated game.

One thing that really disappointed me was a hand I played in the 109r. I built this new HUD over the last 4/5 days and had been using it really well all day. There was around 140 left and I opened button vs bb and checked back, checked turn and folded river with a good bluffcatcher because of what my HUD said. The very next hand I open 22 in the cut off and the guy from the BB 3bet the small blind and I had a perfect stack size to shove. Generally this would be an easy shove as people use a 3bet or fold strategy OOP from the sb and he will just be 3bet/folding so many combos of KQ/98 etc etc. I checked my HUD and he had a really low 3bet % and a low 3bet % from the SB, I contemplated for ages and every single thing inside of me was begging myself to fold but I still jammed and he had QQ. I was so annoyed that 1) I didn't go with my instinct and 2) Didn't check his cold call % from the sb, it is such a vital important stat here and the 3-4 hours or so of custom editing I made to my HUD on Thursday was basically pointless if I'm not going to use all the information in it. This was right in the middle of my session and it really hurt my morale.

The 888 tournament was pretty ridiculous too, people were just doing so much dumb shit Cheesy Like ridiculous ICM disasters, everybody just rofling super hard, I decided to limp every single hand I played to make it as low variance as possible on the last 2 tables. Will be a really interesting hand history to review in Monaco because during SCOOP maybe I have to revert to a limping strategy or maybe I reguarly revert to a limping strategy so it will be nice to check this hand history and analyse some spots a little deeper.

10000000000% taking tomorrow off no matter what and v.v.v likely Tuesday too.

Good luck if you're left in anything.

edit: will post some PLO stuff over the next couple of days.

edit edit: If you could ask 3 guys for MTT coaching who would it be? I'm going to try and book 1 hour with 5 different people over the next week just to get some different thoughts and ideas. Who would your three be? Choosing different stylistic players is best imo rather than 3 guys who play solid/similar/good

Fresh
Fedor
Naza

Have you and never scared b done a lot of discussing tournaments. I noticed you both play the same annoying way and I can't really see how to combat it. These min opens from 13bb in the cut off. So annoying. Let's have a hi-lo session Wednesday?

Good Tuesday. Went out to get crepes for breakfast as I was super craving them. I didn't give money to this woman with a hunchback and then when I went to collect my crepe she snuck up to my table and downed my lemond Cheesy Karma I guess.. Crepes were amazing anyway!

Came home and coached for over 2 hours to our stable a recent run where I didn't really play very good but lots of discussion which was nice.

Played a shortish session and ran up huge stacks in everything.  Bubbled a lot of stuff but managed to come 3rd in the 109rt for 5,5k and cashed the 600 on 888 so was a good day in the end.

Tomorrow is Monte Carlo, really looking forward Smiley

1) Interesting hand vs Lasagmaaaa - have some small reads

http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hands/Boom/14186148_3DBB08A590

2) Really interesting hand vs Elia

http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hands/Boom/14182812_2FBA412C78

Pre is fine, flop I think I prefer to call than jam, although its close. Turn I think is easy check back. River very close, but feels like its a good hand to jam, we don't get to the river thattttttttt much weaker and we can jam pretty wide for value (kx+ maybe aq+) so can bluff quite an extended range too imo. Thoughts?

3) Disciplined Super Tuesday fold - http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hands/Boom/14181826_780E9D1D13

I couuuuld fold flop, but I feel like calling is best vs the player in question. Turn is somewhat annoying, but relatively standard I would say.

4) http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hands/Boom/14180268_129C1879F5

Probably the most interesting hand I think. Flop I think is best street to get value from, also lets say he has 22-99 and NEVER puts a chip into the pot without improving to a set then why give those hands 2 outs? Turn I think is too thin, generally in MTT's turn sizings are way smaller than river sizings, its easier to balance an overbite range on the river when theres no more cards to come out etc. So I feel like checking here and betting bigger than I would on the turn (were also more likely to be winning when he checks river than when he c/c checks turn) maybe I should call the river, felt intuitively like a fold at the time though.

Ace 10 is really unbalanced you're never doing this with 88 or a set. The last hand with ace 10 really like a check on the flop, they are probs just folding the hands you mentioned. With kings, when you call flop what are you expecting ott, that's he's checking there a lot? Surely he's betting 90% plus of turns and iirc turn was a brick.

Just looked at the kk hand again. Really interesting. If you have any reads, would they raise a set on such a dry board? Or top 2 ? What do we expect 9 10 to do ott?

Enjoying hand 4, his river bet seems a little face up, like I'm not sure what hands would check call flop and then decide to bluff this river, just doesn't seem like it makes sense as a bluff especially with this sizing. Idk how people tend to play at this level but I guess he's not gonna be value betting worse very often vs you? Like would you expect him to do this sort of thing with a hand like KQ or do you expect him to just cb it?

Monaco is amazing, seriously, its so good. I really love the life of luxury, like just these tiny tiny details really make everything worthwhile.

The hotel is amazing. Will post lots of pictures at the end of the trip.

We flew to Nice and then got a Helicopter to Monaco which was a really good trip and really enjoyed.

Went with carster for dinner over in France last night and then played the fps main event today.

Hand 1

I played a lot of pots in the first orbit. UTG+1 opened to 300, UTG+2 called and I squeezed QQ and they both folded.

Next hand the first guy went to raise to 300, then looked at me and limped, the 2nd guy looked at me and made it 450 and then I made it 1650 with AhKd, they both called.

Flop was 766hhx, they both checked and I bet 1950. 2nd guy called.
Turn is the 7663hhxh I bet 5650 and he calls.
River is the 7663hhxh 7 and I put him all in for 16k ish and he folds TT face up.

I lose AQ<KT when the guy makes a bad jam pre then pretty weird hand.

Hand 2

I raise 99 to 950 at 400bb, hijac calls (he was huge huge whale)
I cbet 1200 on 653r and he calls. Turn is T and I bet 2300 and he jams 4.5k more. I had to call and he had JTo for no backdoor, no draw etc so that was annoying

Hand 3

This was a pretty ridiculous hand. Bad reg opened and then bad younger reg 3bet 800-1800, he had previously flat QQ/AK so as always he had his billion combos of bluffs and very few value 3bets. I cold 4b 4650 J9hh and he peeled.

Flop 982fd, I decide to check back and reevaluate turn
Turn is 3 and I decide to bet 1500 into 10-11kish pot. I love using 10-15% size bets ott and then having different river ranges but dont want to deeply go into it here, but just basically it allows you to merge, overbet for value, overbet for bluff, 1/3 for value, 1/3 for bluffs etc. He calls.

River is 98235 and he checks and I bet 10k which was a really big bet at the time, I just assumed I'm never beat here unless he has exactly a4 or 55. If he has either he has a bunch of other bluffcatchers too and he was a station imo.

He calls with 64 (98235 pre flop cold 4bet Cheesy) tillllllllllt  welcome to France!

I came back online and played a bunch online, really enjoying omaha now, starting to understand it just about (you have to use 2 of your cards at all showdowns not 1!!!!) and final tabled the 320 6max for a decent winning day.

Tomorrow will be getting a massage and then going to play the FPS Highroller.

I know people always say it, but SURELY the softest tournaments in the world must be in France, they are RIDIC! Saw so much stuff today that would blow your mind. c/calling 73o on K66r, limping q2o utg and c/c 865. Great stuff..

Silly question: in these tournaments, which language is spoken at the table?

Do you announce "raise", "call" or "all in"? Or do you just make the appropriate action?

Do you learn the basics words and phrases for each place you play in? You know...
Call
Raise
all in
check
how much do you have behind?
Can you spread the pot, please, dealer?
are re-entries allowed?
Will you show if I fold?
In your eye, you arrogant man!
Such a super sick spot

When cards are live English only at the table is enforced at all EPT stops I've worked at. It's the only international language and is there to stop collusion, soft play, angle shooting etc. This is basically accepted at all events, although there are some issues in Deauville from my experience.

As far as I know when the deck is being shuffled the players can talk in whatever language they please, but once the first card of a hand is pitched it's English only. Even if it's a heads-up pot and the only players left in the hand are from Russia this rule still applies.

Would be interesting to hear from Pads, and others who play events around the world, how strictly this in enforced in their experience as I've seen plenty of incidents at non EPT events - mostly in Spain - where this doesn't seem to happen.

It totally depends on the dealer. It's very annoying when you don't have a strict dealer makes things so slow/disorganised. The very best dealers eventually get taken to be floor guys etc. It's abit like supermarkets, the good staff get promoted and then you get the new staff on the tills, hige variance with dealers

VAMO Fedor.

Busted both the 2k FPS and the midnight turbo today. The highroller was great! Made a relatively thin hero call but I'm pretty fine about it. These guys were just absolute blasters! Monaco cuts out the middle man, basically the sickos are here and the whales are here, its a pretty ridiculous place!!!!

Selling to the 25k highroller, feeling really optimistic about this tournament, no idea why and never really get these kind of feelings.

Selling for it here too:  http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/184/staking-selling-shares-live/pads1161-monaco-25k-1529269/

Have been playing a lottttt of PLO the last few days. Here is one really interesting hand.

http://www.boomplayer.com/en/poker-hands/Boom/14223387_9E6FF03CDB

What do you guys think? I have a lot of thoughts on this hand, good and bad, will post afterwards about them. Let me know what you think!
