A question for the great, knowledgeable people that view this thread....

A 58 year old recently started a job with me, it was clear from day one he was going to struggle but the employer sacked him 2 weeks into a 3 week training programme. Instead of offering him any extra support and instead of paying him for the 2 weeks work he done, they have deducted £400 from his wage for training costs and paid him only £20.  Legally is this allowed?

id say it sounds like they are trying it on - but it will all depend on what the contract says

I mean if they are getting rid of him - im sure they would have to pay him - not like he is benefitting from training then leaving

is there really a cost to the training - is anything perishable?

Could you do what the man in SuperSize me did?

Eat nothing but McDonalds for a 30 days and eat everything on the menu at least once.
