I'm right into Domestic Violence at the moment.
Not partaking in it obviously, but trying to understand it, from both sides. I heard some shocking stories recently, and some unbelievable stuff.
Which leads me to this interesting fact.
Every minute, the police receive a DV phone call, yet less than half of all DV incidents are reported!

depends on what you'd classify as a 'DV incident' I suppose, but i'd imagine the number of individual incidents reported to the police is probably even <5%

<5%? Doubt it's that low. The figures come from all the different types of DV, It's actually just over a third, rather than less than half.

I was speaking to a man today who's job it is (Amongst other things) to act as ghost-writer
for several of Derby's notables
. It falls to him to pen "Personal" letters of invitation, acceptance, gratitude etc.
He told me that me that it was a regular occurrence for him to be acting on behalf of two people and find that he is sending letters which the recipient then passes on to him. He writes back and receives his own reply, thereby conducting both sides of the same conversation.
Derby has notables?
Stereotyping?

Had my sunday lunch in the garden yesterday. Couldn't believe how warm it was outside.
Afterwards, I went along to the Marriot and met Eso Kral, had a couple of latte's and a chat for an hour and a half or so, then he went off to pick up Petra & Max from the airport. When it came to paying or the bill, he insisted, just so I could say on my diary, that Eso paid, I might have a tally up at the end of the year to see how many free lunches / drinks I have had. I'm def in credit though. Have negotiated a vegas de-brief with pizzled on thursday at Peter's. I haven't told Pete I was have left my job at the council, he is 64, and I don't think he would have taken the news well. He might just have to delay his retirement by another year.
Afterwards, I headed off to the Vic to play some more cash on my staking deal. We decided that I was gonna sit with £150 on a 1/2 game and see how it went. Very quickly got up to £480, then had an accident with AK on a A 8 4 flop, lost the minimum in the end. Finished on £363 around midnight, so £75 p/h worked out ok. Def preferred the 1/2 to the 1/1, and I'm gonna just go straight into the 1/2.
Still need to iron a few things out, I was keen to play tonight, but my backer isn't there, and obv I don't have funds, I can't and don't want to be restricted to just playing when he is gonna be there. I'm in the mood, and playing well, and want to make the most of it. Should be going down tomorrow night.

Another night in the Vic last night. Played the £80 comp, but busted early. Then sat in a 1/1 game, the line up looked really good, and I quickly done a buy in with
on a
flop. sigh. Reloaded and dropped down to £39, before I had time to consider a reload, I trebled up with a backdoor flush, then grinded it back up to £413 to book another profit on the evening.
Was sat next to a guy, prob about 60, he had a new blackberry phone, and didn't know how to make calls on it. I showed him how to do it and he was very grateful, 10 mins later when I ordered some food, he insisted on paying for it lol. He must have heard who I was?
Left about 1.30am. Everytime I got the Vic, I seem to go a different way, the same coming back. I nearly missed my turning and done a last minute swerve to turn right, without indicating. 30 secs later I was given the blue light treatment
I pulled over, and was sat looking out the driver's window, waiting for the copper to come up, he tapped on the passenger window and asked me to come out for a chat.
I accidentally done a comedy stumble as I was getting out the car, sigh, and went to chat with him on the pavement, we were soon joined by his mate.
The conversation went something like this..
Him: Do you know why we have stopped you sir?
Me: Yes, I turned right without indicating
Him: Err no, but thanks for letting me know that, we stopped you as you were speeding
Me: Was I? I didn't realise
Him: Yes, just over 40, we won't do you for it, as we don't have the right equipment.
Me: Oh, thanks..
Him: Where you been tonight?
Me: The casino
Him: Bad night?
Me: No, not really
Him: Where you going?
Me: Waltham Abbey
Him: OK, we are gonna do a few checks, Is this your car?
Me: Yes
Him: Is it insured?
Me: Yes
Him: Where you from originally?
Me: Glasgow
Him: Ever been arrested?
Me: No, well yes, when I was 15
Him: Anything more recent?
Me: No
Him: Been in a police station recently?
Me: No, err I mean yes, I got caught on my phone a couple of months ago, and had to take my licence in
Him: I bet you have been in a few police stations in your time?
Me: Pardon?
Him: You seem the type
Me: Do I?
Him: When did you last have a drink?
Me: About 3 weeks ago
Him (laughing) You sure?
Me: Yes! What's funny?
Him: Most people say they haven't had a drink for a few hours, maybe a day or so, no one has ever said 3 weeks ago, especially some from glasgow!
Me: Ummm, well I don't really drink to be honest, not everyone from Glasgow gets drunk and spends loads of time in police stations! (said jokingly obv)
Him: Oh no, I didnt mean that, I meant, you just look hard
Me: Do I?
Him: Yes, you're standing here, shaved head, in a t-shirt, not even worried it's freezing
Me: Oh, I'll just get my coat out the car.
Him: What were you doing in the Casino?
Me: Playing poker
Him: Right, so how do I know you aren't lying to me?
Me: What do you mean?
Him: You might be bluffing!
I start laughing, meanwhile his mate comes over, he is being given info about me over the radio, once he gets the OK, that all is fine, he says 'Full House' and has a good laugh to himself over his comical poker pun.
The other copper has a quick look in the car, tells me the nicorette capsules in the car are no good if I'm gonna have cigarettes as well.
I thank him and we say goodbye, just before he gets in his car, he says " I'll look out for you on one of those midnight poker shows, Drive carefully and don't speed"

Festival at Luton this weekend, which I'm really looking forward to. Hope it gets good numbers. £550 6max on friday, and a £300 & £200 on Saturday & Sunday. Hoping I have to miss one of the sidey's due to doing well in the main. Alex Martin confirmed for friday, so nice of him to donate to the prize pool.
Good luck me.

You run soo good.
I take a wrong turn onto a dead quiet road (admittedly one way street) only do approx 10m and get done...£60 and 3 points.
Maybe I should have pretended to be from Glasgow as well.
