Cash games here are pretty awesome value. Had a good night last night, the three of us winning more than 4k between us in a 1/2 game. Mitch and Andy played till 11am!
Keith, Neil and Kurt arrived this afternoon, and all 6 of us just had a pretty nice meal in the casino restaurant, which is undoubtedly the best casino food I've ever eaten. Morale very high, we headed down to play the 6max, which I'd been really looking forward to. 7500 chips, 20min levels, perfect. I busted in 6 hands. 3betting AK oop and cbetting K83hh, the guy raises and I shove he snaps with the drawtastic T8hh and gets instant service drawing me dead on the turn. Oh well, obv plays itself, just annoying. Cash for the rest of the night, probably 2/5 tonight then playing the main event tomorrow. Hope to turn things around on the comp front and have a good run. Morale still high after the good results on cash and fading the dinner flip (which always gets me in a good mood) so feeling good about everything

After 3 comps, £1800 of makeup and 7 levels of play, as well as 20 hours of cash, we're heading home from Blackpool.
Trip was overall a success. Nothing I could do in any of the comps, made a play in the main which was a bit fps and I regret slighty looking back, but the majority of my chips were done in in coolers and bad beats.
Cash games were pretty steady, won about 500 each day, no big swings which I don't mind. And a 1500 return for the trip is a good result.
Yesterday was pretty exciting though. We all went out for a curry, usual crowd plus George Toulouse who got a pass for the night whoop. That was a good laugh, then was knackered after the 12pm start so had an early night. Body clock doesn't do early nights so at 4 am was wide awake and rolled out of bed over the road to the casino to play a few hours. Did 300 in a boring 1/2 game which broke and the only other option was 2/2 PLO and a 5/10 Holdem.
I've never played 5/10 before - definitely feel it's out of my roll and if I ever was to play, it would have to be a really good game worth taking the shot.
Playing in the game was Keith and Mitch Johnson, Nick Hicks, Ash Mason, Terry, 2 recreational players and Jake Cody. So despite completely failing to fulfil the above criterium, I sat down.
With my chips still in the tray, the first hand I'm dealt, Jake has the £40 double straddle on, Keith has opened utg to 150 and I look down at AK! I'm only playing 1k so obv it's going in, I 3bet and took it down, so that was £200 in dead money straight away - fun! Played very tight of course, just enjoying the buzz and atmosphere of playing in a such a big game with some great players. Game went on until 8am I think then broke. I faded the £200 omaha flip they did at the end, which obv mitch won, binking a T on the river to give him tens full. Terry was trying to slowroll with a worse house, was pretty comedy.
Won 300 in that game, which got me even for the session, result considering how much of a dog I must've been in that game. Great experience though.
Back in notts now, gonna grind out the cash games for the rest of the month, think I can get 150 points which'll give me 2x deepstack seats, which'll pay for Christmas. Looking forward to a decent poker break over Christmas actually.

Have to give a special mention to Kurt in this post. Kurt has been a reg at DTD for as long as I can remember. Reputation for being very solid, plays strong hands, nothing fancy, always has it - you get the idea. This reputation has led to many a frustrated river fold or preflop laydown in the past from myself and the other regs. He's also a super nice guy and sometimes will even tell you what he has during a hand if you ask him and he likes you.
Tonight we play the following hand. Kurt raises he button on my straddle to £15, Mitch flats in the bb and I squeeze to £65 with
, both call.
check check check
check, I bet £85, Kurt calls, Mitch calls
Mitch leads for £225, I know what Mitch is doing here, I fairly happily call. As soon as I don't get a snap fold from Kurt I'm starting to hate life. He goes deep into the tank and counts out a raise. I don't remember how much it was, in the region of 500 i think. I'm hazy because as soon as it crosses the line, Mitch throws his cards in frustration into the muck, and I echo this frustration and do the same instantly.
"Would be sick to show the bluff here is it" Frankie says and sure enough, he reveals the Q9 offsuit!
Was stunned and amazed. Is this what 3 years of being a rock has built up to? Much respect to Kurt for this play, what a boss!
Was great having Frankie there to watch it [ ], he goes and tells the entire club how Kurt bluffed me and Mitch and we get ridiculed. I bowed my head in shame and stared down at my iPad which had become very interesting all of a sudden...
