Been having up and down days pokerwise, nothing special to report. I think I won £1k in a small 1/2 game, then $900 the next day playing MTTs, then lost £400 and $700 tonight so I guess I'm up a bit.
In my Dad's house atm, we're going to a concert tomorrow so I've come home for the weekend.
Watched the football, was really strange how I began the game thinking I wanted Bayern to win cos my Dad supports spurs and used to take me to loads of the games - but as the game went on I couldn't help cheering for chelsea, and was fullon cheering on in the penalties. I guess it's some sort of natural patriotism that came out. Weird.
Enjoyable game, pretty sick how the guys that really came through for Chelsea are the same guys that have been bossing the premiership for years Cech, Cole, Drogba and Lampard. Was a pretty nice moment to see them win to be honest.

It's songs by Messian, Debussy and Mahler, sung by Magdalena Kožená accompanied by Mitsuko Uchida who is absolutely incred btw. One of the top pianists in the world. I don't know the singer, but she is from Czech Republic and will be delightful I'm sure.
Not quite Metallica. Or whatever that is.

was replaced by someone who took 3 minutes to make any decision (seriously tilted my life) ..
The only time I've ever tilt-quit a live game is sharing a table with Doc Sands (David Sands) he is the most infuriating player to play with I have ever come across it makes my blood boil thinking about him at a poker table.
You could always try thinking about his GF instead!
haha yh wal.
Just following on from someone getting tilted by people being slow, DS is unreal, 20x worse than anything I've ever seen anywhere

Great day today, the concert was lovely. So nice to step back into that world where I was once totally immersed. I love what I do now and the poker world, but for me, nothing will ever give me quite the same "tingle factor" (an old friend used to call it) as music.
The concert today didn't cause any hairs on the back of my neck to rise, but it was just a lovely evening of beautiful sounds, french and german poetry set to music by some of the great romantics of the 19 and 20th centuries.
The pianist honestly is one of the top 5 or maybe top 3 pianists IN THE WORLD - strange to see such a reknowned pianist play in an accompaniment role, but it was great. My Dad knows her so we went backstage afterward to meet her, didn't really know what to say, just stood there grinning like an idiot probably. She seemed suitably impressed at Bobby reading Music and Oxford though. Lovely evening.
Sorry for poshboy overload in that. I'm done now!
Was back in Cambridge for 11 and played half a dozen comps, winning a small $50 freezeout for 2k and one other decent cash, profiting about $2k, jolly good.
Probably going to dodge the traffic and drive back to Notts now, Holly needs feeding too!

Speaking of tingle factors, here's Bobby in that concert I went to see him in in March playing one of my alltime favourite pieces.

Won't any of your house mates feed her?
What makes someone stand out so much as a pianist? I would have thought the top 100 guys would all make the same piece of music sound the same. A bit like the Nigel Kennedy and Vanessa Mae stuff, is it not just a bit of hype because they stand out from the crowd a bit

REALLY fun 2/5 game tonight. Hit quite a lot of cards, won 1.5k overall.
Chopped a pretty funny hand vs Keith, I cold 4b pre ip, bet flop and turn and I gave up the river with Q8cc, he had QThh on
. Turned a set of jacks vs Florian on 965J and got it in with Q8hh (fd and dbl gutter) and held for my biggest pot of the night.
There was loads of banter all night, really good laugh, haven't had a game like that for ages, miss them. Here's a hand Neil and Keith played which is pretty interesting / funny. Before anyone pipes up with "bit rude to film people making big decisions", Neil is fine with it, says he is used to lots of distractions when he's playing and can always just block everything out. I wouldn't film it otherwise.

No, not KQ.
I was fairly sure he was never making that bet with a Queen, unless he had 2 pair or better.
Ace of Hearts on the river was ugh, but I looked at Keith when it hit, and was pretty sweet when he didn't snap turn his hand over.
We'd had a lot of banter earlier about what is ok to do, when a hand is in progress, after one of the more sensitive players at the table got a little upset by two other players having a quiet discussion, whilst he was in the middle of making a trivially easy decision.
I had been firmly on the side of talking etc.. is ok whilst a hand is in play, therefore could obv. have no complaint about any antics during this one.
When I'm at home playing online, I get lots of distractions from two over-needy kids., so it's not a great problem having to contend with Mitch and Tom.
