Pretty glad that Phil has become not only a regular in the games at Dusk, but also a regular on Blonde. A great example of how someone can weave themselves into a community without the need to insult just about everyone and yet still maintain a great deal of honesty and integrity. What is annoying though, is that I read your posts in your voice. Not that your voice is annoying, but you talk slower than my inside voice.

Same applies to Ian as well, great to see father Gascoigne onboard the Blonde community, fitting in nicely. Only hilarity can ensue when both Gascoignes are at the same table, and I'm sure the same applies to public forums!

And finally, it's great to see that even a pro of Alex's calibre goes absolutely crackers for no reason once in a while, and not just me. Welcome back nonpro. October is going to be a good month. Smiley Have a great time out in Latvia mate, see you soon.

Sorry for the de-rail Alex, but after going to DTD this weekend, I realised that I had made a glaring omission from my critique of the DC game and it's something I need to get off my chest. Lets call it paragraph (b) subsection (i) :

(b.i) DEALER ABUSE IMMUNITY:

Just as in nature there are organisms that seem to be capable of enduring in the face of all adversity, carving a niche for themselves where nothing else is able to flourish, so there was one dealer that could adroitly handle the DC game and it's gushing geyser of poison, intimidation and vitriol. In fact, it's probably wrong to say that he was immune to it, since he actually thrived in it. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you: Ryan Brodsky.

Brodsky had a gift for identifying the most ill-tempered, unpleasant players on the table and swiftly set about delivering them the most brutal bad beat, which would result in them showering him with a deluge of offensive abuse... and he LOVED it. Smiling sweetly, he would then proceed serenely with the next hand, all of us knowing that, like the greatest of marksmen, it wouldn't be long before he found the same target again and again, thus ratcheting up the level of vitriol more and more, creating (what was, for him) a virtuous cycle of abuse. He really did have it down to a fine art, pressing on until the villain went bust and erupted with fury, spewing bile all over the table, which he, this human sponge of misery, would leisurely soak up.

The only problem was, that like all the greats, he needed a bigger challenge. It was all very well tilting the hot-heads and lunatics, but this was becoming all too easy, " What if I can turn the mild-mannered players into gibbering maniacs as well? " he mused. He didn't mull it over for long, trading in his sniper rifle for a Mac-10 sub-machine gun, spraying the table indiscriminately with one and two outers, people who'd previously gently tapped the table when they were on the wrong side of a 2 minute slow-roll were now firmly in his sights. It pains me to write this but he got to me, oh he got to me, on more than one occassion, and I'm ashamed to admit that I once called him " a despicable human being ".

Despite all this, he was still welcomed to the table by the DC regs because he is genuinely a good guy, one of the quickest, most popular and competent dealers and rarely made a mistake. Except the time he dealt a flop. In Padooki. And cost me £1,200. Not that I was angry with him at the time, or bear him any malice now. The dirty son of a bitch.

(If any mods. feel that this last sentence should be deleted, then I can assure you that you will be robbing Ryan of the opportunity of going to work tonight with a smile on his face)

Phil, you made me laugh so much that I split my cup of coffee down my top. Brilliant post from a classy guy.

Good post Sean.  Great to see Phil, Ian and Stu posting on here regularly.

What a great piece of writing, Phil, wonderfully crafted.

Post more.

PS - There are other blonde Diaries too, more challenging perhaps, covering bridges, geese, concrete, ducks, Motorway Service Stations, herons, Hampton Court Palace, aeroplane photographs, Russian railway journeys, all sorts.

5/7 of us have made it through to day 2, including me yay!

Got 31,400 going back to 600/1200 30 odd made it through out of 140 entries, pretty sick that we've still got so many in. Keys and Mitch busted late on but we've got Sam Mac (group chip leader - shock) with 160k, PJ with 65k, Thigh with 60k and Keith with 11k Cheesy Average is like 55.

Got a break tomorrow whilst day 1b plays out, going out tonight obv Tongue

Ran bad for 9/10 levels today but like god in one so that's all it took to get a stack. Would imagine we'll be reasonably near the money so getting into flag territory soon!

was gonna do a proper TR after the comp, but will c&p it from pokernews for the fans and JB Tongue No excuses, jjust a total spew, I thought he had JJ-KK pre and could get him to fold, but the board runs out bad and I just shut down. At least I played the river well Cheesy

2pm: Goulder takes a hit
Alex Goulder is down to 9,000 after losing a pot early on here in Riga.

There was an open, a three-bet, the cut-off four-bet and then Goulder cold five-bet to 3,000 on the button. Only the cut-off made the call and the two of them took a T♥T♣9♦ flop. It was checked to Goulder who bet 3,000, call from the cut-off.

The J♠ hit the turn, both players checked it through and the 8♣ completed the board. The cut-off decided to lead for 3,000, Goulder mulled it over said something that sounded like: "Have you got queens," to his opponent, before mucking his hand. He's down to around 9,000 now and obviously ruing his decision as he tweeted (@cambridgealex): "What possessed me to cold 5b A6o in level 1 of a soft Latvian 1k? What is wrong with me?! Grinding half starting stack now."

#TeamGB lol. Loving the dramatic full stops before Keys' arrival!

Yeh I've decided to be a part-time bookie now lol. My first venture did not go well, but enjoyed it and the damage was only £200. Ran a book on the WSOPE with 24 left. Obv some massive fishcake punters went for Hellmuth (JK Wink) and scooped at 15-1 when he was just over average.

Gonna do one for pretty much any event that blondes are in / prestigious worldwide event. Love the sweat as you know, and hopefully will make a few quid and not do my brains in! If I do knock it in at least, it all goes back into the blonde community so it's win/win kinda!
