Dolmio - no no. Ragu - nu nu.
Can of chopped tomatos, maybe a bit of Pasata or tomato puree, some garlic, an onion, perhaps some antipasta (peppers are good), mushrooms almost always, bacon, splash of balsamic or maybe a dash of War-ses-ter-shire sauce.
I hope you were not condoing Dolmio then Dreenie.
No ofc I'm not condoning it lol.
Not sure where your herbs are in this recipe? And I think it's nice to add a tiny but of curry powder right at the end to give the sauce a bit of a kick.

I should have known not to tangle with a chef. Herbs - get tinned tomatos with herbs, but I don't fanny around with no herbs otherwise in my Spag Bol. Curry powder sounds good though.

Pancetta/smoked bacon is the key element IMO in Spag Bol
Basics recipe would be brown mince/chopped chuck steak, mince which can be beef or a mixture of 2/3 meats, drain set aside- fry 1 onion, 5/6 garlic cloves, 3/4 rashers of smoked bacon or equivalent in pancetta, peppers, maybe a chilli, load of oregano, basil, thyme and possibly small bit of chilli powder, add 1 can tinned tomatoes, touch of tomato purée, 2 glasses red wine probably a Shiraz, throw meat back in bring to boil, allow to simmer for hour or so to reduce wine enough, taste, add loads of salt and pepper and done. Longer u simmer better it will taste anyway but hour minimum for me

Will likely have to sell to play ISPT. Might do a package with the WSOP main event.
Compared to the WSOP Main, what markup do you reckon ISPT (day two) should be sold at? The same? Higher? Lower?
Overlay is going to be huge, field size is monstrous (16,000 entries rings a bell) which increases ROI and so many people in for 3euros, 30euros, etc. Will attract huge number of sickos though as well.
As only the first prize is guaranteed, your only going to benefit from it if you either outright win, or are involved in the chop.
I think its going to be one of the best value comps ever, but dont know how eager people will be to buy stakes in it when most people will still will see it as a €300 comp, and buying at mark up in somebody selling for day 2 wont even get them 10% for that.
Let just win our way through with chunks instead. If THigh can fkin do it....
Yes but ROI is still affected quite significantly by the overlay, even if only a select few will benefit from it, everyone entering's EV is higher because of it.
I have no idea why anyone would "see it as a 300euro comp". It's complete nonsense.
The buyin is 3000. Yes many people will have qualified for 300 euros, but for every one of them there's 9 suckers like you and me who have donated 300euros to the prizepool and not got a seat.
And for every person starting with 100k instead of 50k, there's another person starting on 25k. The average is 50k. You pay 3000euros to get 50k.
I can't see any possible reason for seeing it as a 300euro comp.
Yes the payout structure is nonstandard. With half the field getting 540euro mincash, and you have to make top 5% to get your 3000 back (I'm quoting Guy there, I don't know that for a fact), but I don't think the EV of a 10% stake will be affected that much by that. It'll make it lower variance in that you're reasonably likely to get some £ back, but it'll be harder to do really well out of the coup. Of course the time we god mode it, it'll be a serious bink, with 10% getting you 100k...

i figured that i wouldnt buy any action in anybody simply because of the min cash being so low.
if somebody satted in and had average chips id buy at 0.7 or something i think.
the point of:

is cancelled by the fact that 2nd place which would still could be godmoded could be any figure and nobody really knows what it will be right?

The ISPT payout is long and flat, much like a DTD Grand Prix, as the aim was that it would be a grass-roots poker comp appealing to the recreational player (hasn't really worked out like that, people playing the day ones are "deepstack" players by and large and the non-casino playing recreationals haven't really gone for it)
Am I correct in thinking that, all other things being equal, a pro would prefer it more top heavy and paying far fewer places?

If you scroll to the bottom of this page the full payout based on x number of runners is there
http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/ispt/
2nd prize with 1000 day 2 runners is 375k euro etc etc

Alex is completely correct. All this stuff I'm reading about payout structure, it being a 300 euro company is complete nonsense. If an overlay is paid to first place only in a tournament then it would benefit good players far more than if its spread out normally. It's a reason to charge a higher markup not a reason to charge lower. I wouldn't sell myself if I was playing at less than 1.5, I'm literally 100x more likely to win than some players in the field, yes they may cash a higher % of time etc given flat payout but the added money is going to end up in my pocket 100x more often than theirs. Add this to the fact a load of good players will be in Vegas, tons of people satellited in and what you have is one of the best value tournaments of the year, flat payout is irrelevant.

Yeah this. I had a long hard think about what my approach would be to staking this and came to the conclusion that staking at the E3k entry point is just too high variance. Sure I occasionally get back a small portion (16% less with markup) of my stake pretty often but I make a profit overall so rarely that taking a meaningful portion of anyone would lead to me taking on too much variance.

Funnily enough, this payout structure is lower variance than paying out just 10%. You may well make a profit less often, but you lose less too, which more than balances.
I also think people should stop taking Guy's word for it and check the payout structure. 1000 runners, 99 get paid more than 3k and it never gets that close to 5%.

Hmmmmmm doobs!
I'm pretty sure I used the phrase "normal min cash". Now forgive me for not writing my posts like a specification, but I'm pretty sure min cash is widely accepted as circa 2x buy in!
So I did check, and assuming circa 1000 runners, the level of the widely accepted "min cash" (which for ref was E5700) was correct as i stated at 45th place
So if you are going to be critical Id get your facts correct, before throwing out the insults.
As you were chaps.........

Where does all this 300 comp is nonsense come from? If Day 1 costs 300 euro to play, then it's a 300 euro comp.. It just so happens in this particular 300 comp you have the option to buy into Day 2 directly for 3k.

Nah it's a 3k buyin with an option to satellite in from 300 euros and carry stack forward.
