georgy porgy, what's the reasoning behind indian families not liking interracial relationships? from my experience they seem to be against them much more than anyone else though that could of course just be down to sample size
I'm sure there are a lot of white families who'd throw a wobbly if their son/daughter brought home a black or Asian partner home - don't you agree? yep but that's not exactly what I meant and I'm not sure I'm going to manage to word what I mean that well with white families objecting I've always felt it's a more racist thing i.e they'd object to their son/daughter just mixing with non-whites indian families, and again this is only in my experience so could be sample size, seem to be against the relationship, not the person. as matt says maybe the religious thing so you've got something that doesn't appear to be race hate in any way yet manifests itself in a much more extreme way as families tend to disown children hope that made some sense Yes, it does (sort of - would work better with punctuation).

So one day we're at home, in bed, watching tv. I remember it vividly. It was a Friday, I had work the next day. Shelley turns to me:
"George"
*Distracted watching tv* as you are when you're a bloke "mmmmmmmmm?"
"I think I might be pregnant"
"Hmmmmmm... what?"
"I think I'm pregnant"
I hear it this time..... in slow mo.
I think I mumbled something.
This is so similar to what happened with me. Especially the slow mo part! Enjoying the stories mate. My other half told me during dinner. Nearly choked on it.

See for me this is different; Asian is ...well Asian (Vietnam, Korea, China, Japan etc) Oriental is the same. Took me a long time after coming to the UK to realise that when British people say "Asian" they ussually mean; Indian, Pakistani etc.

Here - Asian = Indian/Pakistani/Sri Lankan/Bangladeshi
In America, Asian = Oriental, they use the generic term Indian for anyone from the sub-continent.

yeah, it's quite vague and I've changed my mind over my answer several time I think though that if someone described someone to me as 'an asian looking dude' then I'd most likely picture someone from the sub-continent

TBh I think it's more cultural than religious. Religion comes into it but it's more about what other families might think. Bringing shame to the family etc- spose I did this with some style.
