Had a pretty eventful weekend and another deep run which came to an abrupt end after having more than average for the final. I’ll post some hands for opinion as to whether it was a eff up or some fairly standard spots. I’m pretty annoyed with one hand in particular but on the whole am pleased with how I played. Right now I’m feeling pretty gutted to once again fall short of the final. I need to work on converting these fantastic positions I’m getting myself in but I suppose the fact that I keep running deep means I’m doing something right- along with running well ofc.
Key hands:
Day 1:
Play Day 1A, bust 4 mins to go as previously stated on table of doom. Arrive end of level 4 for day 1b. Get up to 50k early without too much trouble. Win big hands Aces vs 84 o/s on K84A with AJ against FUNFORFRASER’sbluff, AK vs KJ aipf, A6ss vs KQss on J9xss board. Somehow had 341k at the end of the day. First day 2 I’d made in an eternity. Arriving late wasn’t too bad actually, day was so much shorter and felt refreshed rather than arriving on time and tired.
Day 2:
Arrive on table Plinton a couple of mins late. PizzacatoXev to my right. Playing way too many hands imo (sorry Xev). Had to put him in his place- so when he opens c/off 8800 at 2k/4k and I look down at 32hh I obv have to 3 bet to 20,200. Plinton, seeing this and knowing we both have junk 4 bets to 40k. Xev KNOWING Plinton KNOWS this is a perfect 4 bet spot sticks it in his eye for 200k. Take that! I Hollywood. I mean I have to right? (I snap folded.) Pete says CALL. Now they say a picture can say more than any words. If I could post a pic of Xev’s face right now there would be no words needed. He flips the mighty 42o. Spew doesn’t describe it. Plinton has Kings obv. WAL. Table breaks almost straightaway. Thank you! Having Plinton with all
those chips on my right sure would have been fun.
I move to another, safer table where I have 330k at the end of first break. Wadey is there, eyes menacing as usual. I actually really enjoy being on Wadey’s table. He is good reader of people which helps him do well at DTD and at poker.
I am pretty card dead but get 3 streets of value from Wadey with a flopped set. I then get Aces vs Kings and am suddenly Chip Leader in the money. I knock a couple more players out and I have 1.5m. Everything is going great. I have average stack with 25 left. Plinton has joined us and having both of those on the table is keeping me in line. I’m picking my spots really well and chipping up without showdown.
Showdown. How you turned on me. Table breaks.
New table. Time to build a stack for the final. Lose A2<77 when Maria shoves for 4 bigs. Opinions on these hands please: Folds to me on button. I have 1.4m. SB has 350k. BB has 150k. SB has been sat to my left on the other table and reshipped on me twice. Blinds are 12k/24k so effective stacks are 15 bigs. I have Q10dd and shove. SB has AJ. Hold despite the AT3Kdd board. I then open 55 to 50k playing 1 million. BB snap jams all in for 300k. I call. He has AT. KJ3TT board. 650k. Here it comes. Bedi blow up

Get Aces vs AQ very next hand to go back up to 1.3m. Two hands later in the sb. Button, tightish, shoves 200k. I have A7ss? I call. He has AT and holds. 1 mirrion again. Blind down to 800k.
Table breaks. New table. This is the one hand I regret the most. We’re 7 handed and blinds are now 20/40k so I only have 20 bigs effective. I look down at KTss utg. I think this is an easy fold but min raise. Folds to an
oldish gentleman two to my left. He tanks for ages. Like 2 mins and then jams for 350k. Folds to me. I now go into the tank. I rule out AK and over pairs plus JJ cos of the amount of time he took so am thinking AQ, 99, TT. All of which I’m
getting a price on calling. However if I call and lose I only have 450k left. I decide to call and don’t get there against AQ. I think the mistake in the hand is opening in the first place, not calling off the extra. Thoughts?
I am now in short stack ninja mode and get 3-4 shoves through, just maintaining my stack. My exit is tough- losing a flip to Plinton but was pleased he got the chips. Guy is most misunderstood man in poker.
I used to hate him myself but now consider him a friend.
I enjoyed playing this comp more than any for a long time. It was so much fun and obv chipping up easily helps. I have Aces four times, more in a comp than I can remember and for the first time in ages Aces vs Kings for a huge pot and held.
So there it is. Another Bedi blow up or standard tourney BS? I’ll let you, my faithful readers decide. As with most things I think the truth lies somewhere between to the two.
