We’re worse than I thought. Losing to a team that couldn’t beat Bournemouth!

Well played!
Yesterday morning I posted an image of our three awards from November “Player, Manager and Goal” of the month with a comment about how it wasn’t bad for a club in crisis.
Later in the day I added a comment about how well the post had aged…

fixtures out today , very tough start for united , with arsenal, city , liverpool (the champions), and chelsea amongst the first 8 or so fixtures
thought i would ask a few questions seeing as this thread was pretty quiet last year
will the boss last past october ?
can united finish above 15th this year ?
can they finish the season without a negative goal difference for the first time in 3 years?
will maguire be top scorer ?
could liverpool win title number 21 at the theatre of delusions on may 2nd ?
stay tuned for another season of the most boring football in decades from the boys , and bruno, and the rest of that shambolic excuse for a football team

Can we just have a few weeks off?
Ask me most of these questions again in September when we have some fresh data.
But I’ll say a pretty definite no right now to the 21st title being won on May 2nd.

It is a bit early. But, at least at this stage, my thoughts are:-
The boss wants out. But he wants to be paid off. No Manager leaves voluntarily. And the man with the purse strings makes Daniel Levy look like Father Christmas. So his aversion to spending money might mean he lasts beyond October. But it looks like a total mess.
Will they finish above 15th? Probably Yes, but I'd go for 12th With a small positive goal difference
Difficult to see where the goals will come from. But someone will come in for the sort of money saved by sacking a thousand people on Minimum Wage
As a Spurs fan, long may it continue

I asked ChatGPT to find results for United vs Arsenal in the early weeks of a season…
Here are all occurrences since the start of the Premier League (1992–93) where Manchester United faced Arsenal in one of the first three league fixtures of a given season:
⸻
⚽ Matches in the First Three League Games of the Season
2009 / 10 – Matchday 2
• Date: 29 August 2009 (United’s second league game that season)
• Result: Manchester United 2–1 Arsenal at Old Trafford
United came from behind via a Rooney penalty and an own‑goal from Diaby after Arsenal had taken the lead .
2011 / 12 – Matchday 2 or 3
• Date: 28 August 2011
• Result: Manchester United 8–2 Arsenal at Old Trafford
This meeting took place very early in the season; effectively the first United–Arsenal fixture and one of the first three league rounds in 2011–12 .
1999 / 00 – Matchday 1 or 2
• Date: 22 August 1999
• Result: Manchester United 2–1 Arsenal at Old Trafford
This was part of the very start of the season, and United faced Arsenal in round one or two of the Premier League campaign

It could be worse, I could be a Celtic fan.
Or Rangers.

Amorim reminds me a bit of Postecoglu. Only worse.
He, like Ange, has a Plan A. and no Plan B. Except he doesn't have the players (even when fit) to carry out that Plan A. And, unlike Ange, he throws his players under the bus-those he hasn't already forced out. One of those Managers that take the credit in victory, and blame the players in defeat. And spent squillions. Can't keep hiding behind a squad that is very much now his choice.
Worst of all. he hid during the Penalty shoot-out. Shameful. Lead. Or go.
For any Man Ure fans out there, I vividly recall the last shock result for Grimsby. When they beat Spurs. And, strangely, it helped us a great deal. Cos we threw on a kid while losing. Aaron Lennon. Hope he is keeping well. On a similar note, hope Andy Sinton is recovering.
Man Utd, even with their current squad, should be 6th-10th. And will be. Once they get a decent Manager in.
