Aww tanky!  Kiss

You don't disappoint me, I'm just disappointed for you because I know how hard you try. Obviously there will be losing days, but overall you are up a lot so stay focussed on that. Saying that though, we can't have 3 days losing in a row so tonight you're going to go onto Stars and kick some ass! I'll make sure of it!

Good Luck

Well you will all be disappointed to know that you wont be finding any of the monkeys "dead money" appearing at a turbo sit and go near you at any time in the foreseeable future!

Having returned home from watching the league cup semi final at a friends house i decided that i had just enough time to try a $55+$5 turbo tourney to see what all the fuss was about. Having seen one about to begin where neither BigArmo or thetank were playing i entered. not much happened for the first 15 minutes or so, never really caught any cards but did enough so that i still had just above the starting stack of $1500. However as we got another 15 minutes into the tournament the blinds were now at a level where antes were being taken and within 5 minutes the blinds were at 200/400 with a 25 ante, we were still 7 handed and the average stack was just under 2000 with myself lying 5th of 7 with just under average.

Basically what followed just became an all-in fest. You had the choice of two moves, either all-in or fold - if any player put any kind of raise in that wasnt all in they were pot commited anyway and weren't going to pass. We soon lost 2 more players as basically people were now trying to find any two cards that they could at least race with. The longer the tournament went on in my opinion the less skill became a factor, 5 handed with 200/400 blinds about to become 300/600 and only 1900 in chips AJ suited looked like a monster, my all in was called by 99 and i missed and departed in 5th.

I suppose that by beginning to play these tournaments on a regular basis i could adapt my game to best suit these tournaments and try make a regular profit - however i feel that if i do then my MTT game may suffer as a result which is not a risk i particularly want to take.

Therefore i will leave the path free for thetank to tear up the turbo tourneys and clear up any profit that other players seem to have left lying around Smiley

Good luck sir  thumbs up

I can just imagine it now.. CHOO CHOOOOOOOOO!!

Overall Profit $433.50 which i'm quite pleased with may have been more but Tank kept knocking me out  Shocked
May keep the experiment going for a week and see what happens.

Good stuff, well done at your +VE start to turbo tourneys this year.

Like I said before, I hope I don't encourage too many others to try their hand at these. My cash cow might dry up. (Unless they all let me hit flushes on the river for free when I'm in the big blind )

Most wise, for similar reasons I know I couldn't bring my A-game to a multi at the moment.
The turbo head is on and locked in quite tight.

Day 12 - Didn't get to play too much today, was working but managed to squeeze in 23 tourneys afterwards.

Started off the day by playing three batches of 4 and only reaping a lowly three cashes, all of them 3rds. After that happened it became more than likely that the red pen was going to have to be used for a 3rd consecutive day. Happy to report that I didn't let this get to me. I played the next 11 exactly as I've played the previous 270 before them (I'd like to think) and finished the day having not pissed too much away.

Day 12 Results : -$191.5 (+$3869.8 total)
ROI : 23.0% (after 281 tournaments played)

Tank hope you have a better day

Cheers BA, I did. I lost much less than I did yesterday  Cheesy.

All my play was after 3am, so techically Friday 13th was the date I played these. Can't expect to win on Friday 13th so I suppose I got off light. To paraphrase your pal monkey boy, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Day 13 - Decided to make a rule. If I ever have 3 losing days in a row, I'm to take a day off.

Sensible idea I think, the fact that when I finished work I was completely dogged helped me come about it. I'll try to stick to it, should I ever have 3 bad days in a row again. (Might not happen Cheesy)

I start work tomorrow at half five for the 100 re-buy at CinCins. We're likely to be at capacity so I don't see me getting off till very late. If I'm too cream crackered, I won't play when I get back. If there's no Day 14 update that'll be why.

I'll be sure to get back to you and let you all know how Day 15 goes though.

Falling behind I know, but when the new computer gets delivered, I'll be experimenting with 6/8 tabling. If that works out I'll hit my target with greater ease.

Day 13 Results : Day off, to break the negative momentum.

I've just found the time to sit down and read this whole thread properly. I think you are going ahead a storm!

I know everyone is behind you all the way, and we really wanna know what that lovely TV is going to look like!

Have you got the new pc yet? Multi monitoring is great, I use my 19 incher with my lappy sometimes and it's good, if a bit strange.

Keep going hun, i think you are doing fab!

Phew, just read through the whole lot. It's a hell of a read!

First off, congrats on attempting this. You've show heaps of bravado and discipline to give this a proper shot. Many would quit after a few days, but you seem determined to see it through. Best of luck to you, sir.

Secondly, don't worry too much about the red pen. If you're absolutely sure that you're still playing well, then just look at the number sitting beside it. That tasty net profit should keep morale up.

A few questions for you. I demand answers:

(i) How has this mission affected your health and general fitness level?
(ii) Has it disrupted your social life?
(iii) Are you playing when tired just to keep up? In other words, are you sacrificing your standard of play in order to get another game under you belt?
(iv) What strategy are you implementing with these turbo STTs?
(v) Are you meeting the same players over and over again? Are you hunting fish down or avoiding various opponents?
(vi) Are you getting bored?
(vii) Have you titled in any way?
(viii) How many hours have you played in total?
(ix) Will you start throwing games near the end just to make your target within the allotted time?

Darn, I really feel like I should round it up with another question. Bah, I don't have anymore.

Anyhow, stop playing and start answering these questions!!!

please...  Cheesy

i) I'll have a better idea after more time has passed. I try to get to the gym 3 times a week and have thus far managed to go only twice. I've had the flu for a few days at the beginning of the year so that's my excuse.

ii) Not really, but again I'll have a better idea after more time has passed.

iii) No, I know when I'm tired, I go to bed. (after posting bollox on blonde for a bit) There have been many days so far where I've played less than 30, my reasons for doing so were that fatigue was setting in.

iv) I'd prefer not to talk too much about this. Lest my strategy be countered by people who read this thread. I don't want to make it too easy for them.

v) There's around 50 or so that I see regularly. There's no one I particulary avoid, the knowledge that someone is a good player can sometimes be used against them. A couple of players have started avoiding me though Cheesy

vi) Actually I'm enjoying myself more since I have a target to shoot for. Before I started this the turbo sit n gos were boring me though.

vii) From 281 tournaments there were 2 desicions that I regretted immediately afterwards and would have done differently. Neither were particularly damaging.
The first was when I went all-in with a hand that was too weak compared to the blinds which were not yet worth the risk, everybody folded .
The second was when I folded J10o in the big blind to an all-in when I should have called as it wasn't too sizeable a proportion of my stack and might have burst the bubble.
Having said that there may have been some less than optimal play that I've not noticed. In fact I'm sure there was, nothing I would diagnose as tilt though. Not yet anyway, touch wood.

viii) lots, lots more to go. Still very early days.

ix)  If that were my intent you would be within your rights to shoot me. You'd be doing me a favour.
