9 winning days and 1 losing day, you will take that!

Yeah, I'm delighted so far.
Will confess to feeling somewhat invincible after last week though.
Not too bothered, I still feel invincible, just slightly less so. Cheesy

On the most part, I'm pleased that the first losing day has not left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I know I played well and am going to sleep content with that knowledge.

Tank ,just a word on the new computer. I set a few users up with duel screen capability, normally for CCTV monitoring or CAD package users, its very simple to do, all you need is another screen the correct adaptor and a download and you are away, believe me you will find this highly beneficial and find it much easier to seperate the games mentally when they are split between two diffrent screens.

Tank, can you show me how to work out ROI based on this ficticious set of results:

100 tourneys entered @ 66 a go
$12k profit.

181%

66x100 + 12000.

Then divide that by 66x100

I find it simpler to divide your profit (12,000) by your total entance fee (66*100)
and then multiply that by 100.
Both methods will get the same answer (181.8%) but I find with this one, you're less likely to go wrong. That and there's 2 sums to do instead of 3 (multiplying by 100 not counting as a sum in my book)

Ta for the advice.
I'll probably bend your ear about this when you visit Cincin's if that's ok.

Day 10 - Finally, I've had "one of those days". More 3rds and 4ths than you could shake a big hairy stick at. Not moaning, this is what happens in poker. I'm just happy that I managed to get another 34 under my belt. This ain't no bad beat thread, and I don't intend to make it so, no matter how bad they get.

I bought a new computer today, with a view to allowing the possibility of playing more than 4 tables. Even if I do stick to just the four-at-a-time, the 24" widescreen monitor will still come in handy. It'll make it easier on my 'ol mince pies. If I stare at my laptop for 8 hours every night I'll probably eventually go blind (even faster perhaps, depends what I'm using it for Cheesy)

Got it from t'internet, so I have to wait a week or so before my new toy is delivered. I'll have to fiddle with wires to set it up though, that always stumps me for a fair few hours.

Day 10 Results : -$555 (+$4410 total)
ROI - 33.4% (after 220 tournaments)

Better luck for tonight Thomas, I know how frustrating it was last night but tonight you're going to do much better - I just know it!!

Eh up Tank,

Never been a regular sng's player but having read your posts there is a decent profit to be made.
Last night i played the folllowing Tournies
$50 PL no result
$50 rebuy ($155 invested) no result
$10 omaha hi/lo no result

So 3 hrs invested no results so i decided to play 4 sng's before bed $55 Turbo's, Results 1st 2nd 2 blanks ($200ish profit).
So i'm going to give it ago on Weds night no Tournies just $55 Turbo's will try to play 20 and see what happens

OK Played my 20x $55 sng's started 7.30pm finished 11.35pm including 10min break.
Played four at a time max anymore would be to complicated.
Played a more aggressive game than my normal style 5min levels gambling is a big part of it.
So the scores on the doors.

Played 20
6    1st
1    2nd
13  Total blanks

Overall Profit $433.50 which i'm quite pleased with may have been more but Tank kept knocking me out  Shocked
May keep the experiment going for a week and see what happens.

Regards

Day 11 - Played a decent amount today, 38 tournaments in total.

I said the following on Day 2,

I'm trying to maintain a certain ambivilance about my results at this early stage of proceedings. Not celebrating too much when I win should help me not feel too gloomy after a bad day.

This might be true, today I've shown another small loss and don't feel "too gloomy". It's bloody harder to think of something to write about that isn't a self indulgent moan though. Cool

Day 11 Results : -$349.5 (+$4061.3 total)
ROI - 26.2% after 258 played

So the ol' ROI has come back down to earth at last. I knew it would happen eventually. Would like to have had it flirt around in the 30's for a bit longer though, maybe a stormer of a Day12 will sort that out.

Will certainly hope for a winning sesh tomorrow. If it turns out as 3 red pen days on the trot, I'd feel like I was dissapointing y'all.

Well you will all be disappointed to know that you wont be finding any of the monkeys "dead money" appearing at a turbo sit and go near you at any time in the foreseeable future!

Having returned home from watching the league cup semi final at a friends house i decided that i had just enough time to try a $55+$5 turbo tourney to see what all the fuss was about. Having seen one about to begin where neither BigArmo or thetank were playing i entered. not much happened for the first 15 minutes or so, never really caught any cards but did enough so that i still had just above the starting stack of $1500. However as we got another 15 minutes into the tournament the blinds were now at a level where antes were being taken and within 5 minutes the blinds were at 200/400 with a 25 ante, we were still 7 handed and the average stack was just under 2000 with myself lying 5th of 7 with just under average.

Basically what followed just became an all-in fest. You had the choice of two moves, either all-in or fold - if any player put any kind of raise in that wasnt all in they were pot commited anyway and weren't going to pass. We soon lost 2 more players as basically people were now trying to find any two cards that they could at least race with. The longer the tournament went on in my opinion the less skill became a factor, 5 handed with 200/400 blinds about to become 300/600 and only 1900 in chips AJ suited looked like a monster, my all in was called by 99 and i missed and departed in 5th.

I suppose that by beginning to play these tournaments on a regular basis i could adapt my game to best suit these tournaments and try make a regular profit - however i feel that if i do then my MTT game may suffer as a result which is not a risk i particularly want to take.

Therefore i will leave the path free for thetank to tear up the turbo tourneys and clear up any profit that other players seem to have left lying around Smiley

Good luck sir  thumbs up
