Thanks Adam.

Planning a few more pieces over the weekend, will post them up. They are also interested in me writing betting pieces for them so should have that done for 142.

Good piece Scott, enjoyed it. Link more up when you write them.

Sick that he got paid more than Lesnar or Overreem but shame he didn't at least beat Petruzelli. He was certainly garnering interest in MMA better than Overreem ever could.

I know you didn't include it in the piece but I found it interesting when Petruzelli said EliteXC offered to pay him to basically not hurt Kimbo or not knock him out. Something along those lines.

Yeah, Petruzelli (more of a grappler I think) seemingly said something about how the owners said it'd be worth his while to keep it standing in a radio interview. He retracted it soon after tho saying that's what the fans would want, or some similar nonsense.

Thanks for taking the time to read it guys.

I think it was they wanted Kimbo fights to be standup fight (and not expose his lack of ground game) so they offered a standup bonus to all his opponents, win or lose.  Petruzelli mentioned afterwards he qualified for the standup bonus and it got some people wondering if it was just an incentive or if fighters were being brought in and actually being told they can get the fight but they HAVE to keep it standing.

The "standup only" fights were also the rules for his streetfights as you can see in tons of the videos that his friends were getting involved in the fight in anyone tried to attack Kimbo when he was down

Backing Lesnar as in I'd back Dundee to beat Barca.

http://www.thefightlounge.co.uk/best-one-round-fights-of-2011/ - have a read if you have a spare few minutes please.

UFC 142 next weekend, early prices show Terry Etim at 9/4 which is intriguing.

Not having a bet myself but good luck with your predictions.

I think Vitor will be too much for Johnson myself, but I see your reasoning.

The hole card was a huge spectacle, not sure about some ref decisions in a couple of fights!

The atmosphere was electric and reinforces MMA as my preferred combat sport.
