ok quick report. melbourne is incredibly sick, but a bit ridiculously overpriced imo. Went for a night in a studenty club, knocked in chunks because a round of 8 shots cost £70. hilarious. incredibly city mind, people are freindly and weather is great, food is nomnomnomnomnom.
starting table of the 1k was i imagine one of the softest in the field. I had Kenna James (the cowboy hat septic) and a scandie i played in vic a bit who is mental (on my direct right though so all good). Rest of table seemed leaky, lots of bad sizing and horrible lines.
Sat back for first couple orbits, seemed to be one loco local, little history because it plays into a couple of hands later. I see this hand in 2nd orbit. utg limps, utg+1 limps, aussie local limps mp, sb now opens huge (1200@50/100) utg calls(kenna) flats, utg+1 folds, aussie jams for 10k. Sb calls w AK, kenna passes JJ and aussie rocks 88 and holds. kinda hilarious though.
I open AJhh utg and aussie flats, co and sb both come along. Aussie thus far has been really out of line, raising a shittonne of boards and splashing about. AT9hh. I check (figure i get smidge more value from spazzaggro/dont rly wanna have to lump it in this early on such a soft table if raised etcetc). Aussie bets, sb calls, i call. Turn 7. Checked through. River
. Sb leads, i raise to leave a bean, aussie tanks for 8 years and folds, sb pays off what i believe to be T9. Upto 18k.
I then muck about in a few small pots before this hand. Open J8s co and loose passive old bb flats off 14k. He cr 224hh, i float and he check folds to a tiny bet on brick turn. 24k cruise. Next pot of note kenna opens btn, i defend 22 in bb (he covers) then i c/c 34T and he checkback t+r on 37. I then 3b his next 2 opens because he seems extremely reluctant to play a big pot oop v me, which both workout. He limpsoverlimps CO after aussie mentalist limps utg and btn jams 10k. I iso AKs in sb and hold v AQo. 40k running oioi.
I bleed 10k v 3 shorties, losing minor flips @ 150/300, young reasonable guy finds AA with 4 bigs v KQ then wins a flip 77 v AJs. 30k and he opens again, old guy just sat down at table (but seen this guy jam a few hands) 3balls to 3k (open was 2.5 or w/e), i have AKcc in the bb. Im not happy with anything rly, but figure jam is prolly the best, even though old boy looked rly nitty, he had a wedding ring on ffs! He tanks KK, thanks mate.
I then have a bit of a nightmare, i 3b Kenna w A7ss btn v co and he peels. He cr 2s24dd. I call but he gives me a shitty spot when he jams
turn. I rly am so unsure about this spot, I was getting clooooose to 2:1 but not close enough and still had some beans; rly rly unsure and think i made a bad fold.
Then i open KK off a 15k stack before break @ 200/400 to 1k, old guy calls off a 10k stack, hmmm?, sb and bb come along. Q34hh, i bet, old boy calls, rest fold. Turn
and i have to c/f which i could only ever do in a live environment, he shows me 33 and i puke at his pf peel.
Now short i rejam A6o v a loose sb holding 15bigs, he calls 33 and we fail to make a pair. Meh.
Didnt play the 1k shootout as been partying a little bit and was sunny today, am df playing the 1k 6m on friday and will likely carryover %ages to the 2.5k 6m or just shipback. Anyone who doesnt want a carryover pm pls.
