Up to 34,000m on the concept 2 after today's steady 10k plus 1k warm down. So that is only 966,000m to go!

I have split this challenge up in months and am looking to pull 100,000 metres a month as I know there will be some months where I struggle to put the metres in. That said I am running behind schedule for the month and may smash a half marathon in on Sunday to pull it back, although the concept 2 I use on a weekend is at a different gym to my midweek efforts and the weekend one is 'dirtier' and I am effectively pulling more for less. Oh well, no excuses I will just have to get on with it. In other news, my new Garmin 610 arrives tomorrow so I will be itching to get out running soon. Pretty gutted I have not been able to run in the snow as I enjoy the chance to do so.

Keep up the good work all!

Post about the garmin and your running on the Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner thread thumbs up

Start Weight 14st 13  3/4lb

Current Weight 14st 9. 1/4lb

Weight Lost 4.  1/2lb

Getting slightly use to the diet but I've not done any excercise yet..

Must try and use cross trainer 3 times a week..

Start Weight 14st  13 1/4lb

Current Weight 14st.  5  1/4lb

Weight Lost  8lb

Averaging a loss of 4lb a week atm which I guess is steady Progress considering I just can't find the time to do any excercise, maybe a silly question but would I see a big difference if I was doing some excercise...

I went to the gym last night with a friend from work. Although of course my main aim is weight loss I plan to do one weight session a week. I'm sure people will suggest my time would be better spent on cardio but I don't care. I enjoy lifting weights & pretending I'm Evilpie.

Last night we did chest & triceps & today they ache, however I really enjoyed it so I'm happy.

Going for a swim on Friday & bike ride on Sunday! 13st 8lbs here I come!

All I did in an earlier attempt to lose weight in 2011 was lift weights and I lost almost 2 stone in just over 2 months.

Contrary to being better off doing cardio, I would say you're better off doing something you enjoy and that way you're more likely to keep doing it.

I've read up about it and whilst cardio is defo the best way to burn fat lifting weights has numerous positive effects, improved metabolism etc. I just hope I continue to enjoy it & it helps with my overal goal!

Muscle burns fat, so the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism and the quicker your body burns calories. I never much cared for cardio even when I could run, other than playing Rugby and Sunday morning Football that is Cheesy

Good luck with it anyway m8, it's great when you notice your body composition changing and even better when others do because you know it's working!
