I started Monday and the wife made a quiche with salad which I ate some for lunch and the rest for tea. Found a "purple one" choccy bar in the car and as it had four pieces to save fighting the 3 boys got a piece and I ate the 4th bit. Got called out of retirement to play pool last night so that's like a bit of exercise right there but could not resist the snap they put on. Homemade sausage rolls with Lincolnshire sausage meat. I had 2 and 3 pints of bitter shandy for appearance money. [X] was defo to drunk to drive.

Just a side note on pool it's all world rules now and only really had one season of playing em. I break off and clear the table and the captain reckons I should not have gone for it because I had a couple of balls tied up. I was sure that world rules were designed to make the game more open and less tip tap snookering.

Yesterday I had jacket potato and salad for late lunch and supper but did have some very nice cheese on them which is left over from a Xmas present. Should I freeze the rest of the cheese because the only time I have ever defrosted cheese it was awfull/off?

You may notice I don't eat breakfast and often am up at 6am and don't eat till lunch. Is the breakfast good for getting the metabolism going thing a myth.

Bought some nuts from Holland and Barrett to munch on instead of crisps, just had 3 handfulls of Almond nuts as I watched the Man City game and 15 mins later I had the worst stomach pains i've ever had.
90 mins later and i'm still suffering. Never had a problem with nuts before and only had a few chicken legs for tea and a sandwich lunchtime, wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy, probably trapped wind or something but i'm rolling around as if i'm about to give birth.

It could be serious. If it's not better in the next half hour or so, can I have the rest of the chicken legs?

Sorry Tom there's never any chicken legs left in our house.

Was up til about three in the morning had awful trots and even threw up which is about only the third time I've thrown up without alcohol being involved.

I'm sure it was the almonds feel fine again today and vaguely remember having bad stomach pains about two years ago after eating mixed nuts including almonds.
I like peanuts and cashew nuts so just wonder if I've developed an intolerance to almonds, will have to mention it to the doctor next time I go.

The key is to find healthier food that you enjoy eating.

Nothing wrong with food goals if it keeps you going towards your end target. Boring as fk to eat rabbit food for 3 months

As Cos said, if you see healthy food as punishment and crap food as reward then you are going to fail.

A good salad is far tastier that some stodgy takeway curry/pizza.

A good way to ease yourself into this is just to replace obviously bad things with easy replacements. Coke with water. Sweet/cake etc with fruit. Chips/potatoes at dinner with salad. These are easy, small, adjustments to your diet that you can make permanent and not see as something to be endured. Buy some papaya, squeeze a load of lime juice over it and it will be the tastiest treat you can have.

Throw in a bit of exercise and you'll be laughing.

   Andrew

I was going to post similar, although a) had a busy day and b) thought it might sound a bit rich as I am doing the biggest deprivation diet possible.

However, I have learnt a few things along the way.  I have previously had the mentality of looking forward to "getting back to eating proper grub" but over time have come to the realisation that is a fast track to square 1, you just have to find a diet+lifestyle balance that you can do for the rest of your life and maintain weight.

So whereas I couldn't previously wait to finish the diet to smash in the biggest burger on the menu, I now have no interest in it.  By far my fav foods are fruits, salads, steaks/grilled meats.

So quite why I slipped back into eating bacon sarnies most days and takeaways several times a week, I'm not too sure.....

The problem for me i deprived myself so much in the training for three peaks last year ...when it was over i just eat what i wanted because i could.

not this time i will have small treats and the odd takeaway ...but as with everything in moderation.

Breakfast and lunch same as everyday but had a cracking tea. Poached eggs, mushrooms with tinned tomatoes. Did have a slice of unbuttered whole meal bread for dipping... Impossible to have a soft yolk without bread, sausage or chips to dip!!

Generally drinking lots of water, used to smash in loads of teas/coffees at work but I think the 2 sugars per cup and extra milk is too big a price to pay plus if I'm drinking tea how can I avoid biscuits?

Enjoying having fruit for mid morning/afternoon snack. Feel full most of the time as a decent breakfast really helps me.

I think I am all out of Christmas treats now.  But I'm loaded with man flu and the weather here has been terrible so I won't be able to post actual weight until I have either bought decent scales or ventured to the gym.

Brekky - Eggs, dry toast, tea.

Exercise -  20 miles bike.

Lunch - Can of Heinz Big Soup with 4 crisp-breads.

Tea- Lean pork strips with peppers, onions and mushrooms, stir-fried in a little olive oil and served with rice, peas, salad and low fat yoghurt.

Fabulous.
