First big challenge coming up, as mentioned before I want to plan these things ahead of time. My mate is going out for a curry on Saturday for his birthday.

I'm not expecting to make wholesale changes here, its a damage reduction exercise, and the one thing I wont be skipping is mates birthdays (though overall takeaway consumption needs a reduction).

Normally I have pilau rice, peshwari naan, and a chicken madras.

Any suggestions on alternatives?

I have done some googling and the madras apparently is one of the better curries, the pilau rice should become boiled rice, and the naan should be either a chapati or nothing. I think I am driving so no worries about the beer.

I am content with that, but may as well use this as an opportunity to have something different to a madras, any suggestions? Would I be better off going for one of those sizzling dishes without sauce maybe?

Go for a curry without the sauce, so the tandoori chicken or something like that, and just have half a portion of rice instead of a full one.

Drop the naan mate theres like 300 cal in those things. Just do some cardio in the day so you don't feel to guilty eating a curry. I#d go for a mix grill if your watching the calories so much fat in those curry sauces.

Looks nice, how long does it take you to do 20 miles btw?

About 2 hours in this wind. Maybe an hour and a half otherwise.

Did my first exercise of the year, a short, light weights session. Not been to gym since end of Oct so avoiding DOMS where possible.

Had Protein shake after weights.
Dinner was: tomatoes, beetroot, pepper, cucumber, slice of ham and 2 poached eggs

At work just drinking green tea

Any suggestions on alternatives?

Pick from the Tandoori section.

Mix grill (comes with a naan and salad usually) so offer the naan out to someone else who was planning on ordering one.

Chicken Shaslick is also ok, maybe a saag bhaaji with it ~ plenty filling.

Both of those are dry, so no need for rice imo.

replace the naan with a veg (i like the cauliflower they do at indian restaurants) and just eat less rice than usual but again, it's a mate's birthday so don't stress too much.

If you want, eat what you normally do (maybe not the whole naan or rice) but don't feel you're resenting what you're doing and just get back on the horse from the next day.

I'm guessing here but I'd say that simply switching from peshwari to plain naan is going to cut the calories from 6-700 down to 250-300

Here's one for the PC Smiley

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3860488/FitDay_PC there is a torrent to a program called Fitday which you can use on your PC to record your eating.

Obviously not suitable for everyone but it's quite simple to use once you get used to it and you can also set it up for goals etc.
