I normally doze a little on the flight, stay up drinking the night I arrive and head to bed around 3am. If all this goes to plan, I normally wake up around 9am and am good for the trip then.

The only time I had no issue with body clock was waaay back when I used to travel purely to grind the late night cash.  Then, I would get straight off the plane, check in, crash out, wake up at midnight and be good to go.  Play through until 8a.m. (or longer if the game didn't break) then do some daytime stuff, bed about 6pm, wake up at midnight, rinse and repeat.

Since then I have tried everything, nothing works Sad  Usually check in, slip the maid a $20 (after first checking she is the regular maid and not covering on a day off, which would be a bad $20 spent) ask for extra towels/amenities and strict orders never to knock when 'Do Not Disturb' sign is on.  Of course, the following year, I got a phone call from housekeeping "we saw the Do Not Disturb Sign but didn't want you to complain if your bed wasn't made up..."  Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

So nowadays, check in to the hotel, go out and fetch some supplies, grease the maid a score, drink myself into a near coma, enter room at 2a.m., put up Do Not Disturb sign, pull phone cord out the wall, switch off mobile, turn alarm clock off (always some funny fker that leaves it on for 4am for the next guest..) aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand...... wide frikkin awake at 3a.m

Update from a mate already out there

Played rio daily deep stack today,
235$ 15000 chips , 1090 runners winner gets 40k.
Nice field chance of a big bink , but for those thinking about this tournie , be aware the blinds rocket up , with 400 players left it was a shovefest , 20x bb was a mnster stk.
I made top 150 just short of money but for last 2 hrs there was virtually no raising pre other than all in.
Virtually all the other tournies on marky's list have more play in the later stages , the attraction of the rio game is the prizepool.
Also it appears that all the regular dealers are used for the bracelet events so the standard dealing the deepstack is very slow mostly 1st year dealers , can be very frustrating.

Oh my.

Buy miles bonus is back Smiley  You can now buy up to 100k miles, with a 15% bonus.

So, 87k miles + 13050 bonus = £1320

Thats enough to book Upper.  Even with airport tax, that's insta-Upper for ~ £1800.

the game i was in the $185 had 363 in with the winner getting just over 12k, and that went to a push fest because off the blinds went up so much, and the dealers omg there where so bad it slowed the game down

The steak special at Ellis island is 8.99 and you need a players card to get it or it is like 14 for the same thing, you have to print off a voucher each time you get it from the kiosk.

Obviously I did this cos I am massive nit and it is really good value still.
