On a slight tangent here I'm currently on the way home from Vegas / Phoenix ,whilst in Phoenix I went to the talking stick casino
for mixed game players the games were massive players sitting deep with 4/5 k $ in 8/10 boxes on several tables ,my friend says a lot of older guys retire here and play most days and they generate a lot of action

I know that Kev Steele was trying to sell some $ a couple of months ago after winning an event at the Wynn out there. I'll ask him if he's still got some to sell and let you know.

Hi all,
never used this site before but a poker buddy of mine highly recommended it as he thought someone could help or at least point me in the right direction
I went to Vegas for the first time last year but this was with some of my university mates so it turned in to more of a drinking holiday rather than poker playing. However, on 6th Feb I'll be joining a large group of poker mates this time for 9 days at Harrah's casino/hotel but I'm looking to stay a lot longer, either until the end of feb/early march or maybe as long as the end of march. I'm generally a cash game player, i make consistent profit at £1/1 and £1/2 (blinds) tables in various casinos in England.
I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions/recommendations for cheap accommodation in walking distance of the main strip in Vegas? I'm not too fussy about it being modern etc, just that its a clean and a safe place to stay. I've also heard people talk about poker player rates at some of the casinos but don't know who genuinely have the best deals and how much it would normally cost per night/week? basically, what a good and bad deal would be on this basis? or are there any alternatives i could look at?
I was also wondering if anybody knew which of the casinos would be best to play $2/5 cash games? I haven't played this limit before so i wanted to avoid being dropped in at the deep end with all the local Vegas sharks for at least my first few sessions!
Sorry if some of this has already been mentioned in the thread but it would take me several weeks to get through 125 pages, especially as I have a reading age of 8 years old!
any help would be much appreciated!
thanks in advance

I'll have a look for you now mate, to see what kind of costs you're looking at for a few spots until the end of February.
I think March gets a bit pricy with various things going on, so it might not be worth staying another month unless you're crushing.
The best games I would guess are at the Bellagio, Aria and Venetian, so your initial post excludes those hotels from your options, even at the poker rate
Off the top of my head, The Gold Coast might be worth looking at, if you're not averse to shuttling it to the strip from the Rio. I'll have a look at a few other places on the strip for you, and see what they're looking like for that 2 weeks as well.
Another option would be to stay downtown, so you can bus your way to and from the strip @ about £1 a go?

The Quad hotel is the cheapest right in the action. I stayed there a few months ago for a couple of nights, the rooms are a bit tired looking but they are perfectly fine just to get your head down.
They always offer me free rooms there sun-thurs and pay at weekends. You will need a harrahs total reward card to get that offer probably. If you don't have one what I suggest you do is book for a few days at the start, make sure all your action is tracked and then you might get offered the comp rooms on the website for the following week or whatever.
I'm guessing this what happens anyway, although when I do it my trips are usually 12 months or so apart, so i can't say for sure if the offers will pop up so quickly.

Room rates there are starting to creep up now too, and they're a lot higher now than ever before.
Just had a look for you from the 15-26th Feb, and the first two nights are coming out at $600

I read that they're staying at Harrahs for 9 nights in a group, and then he's looking to stay on himself.
I was looking from the 15th, when everyone has jogged on, and he's flying solo.
