For a man used to the Gold Spike, chances are it is going to be ok?
very true
I don't know what the Gold Spike is like or what your expectations are Simon?
I got persuaded to take a tour of the Jockey Club in return for some free show tickets. (Rooky error obv)
Location is great on a little side street near the Cosmopolitan.
Take the following with a pinch of salt as it is obviously only my opinion...
Seemed like a strange place though, tired looking reception area with rooms with blacked out windows.
Curtains covering up entrances to stock cupboards and passageways.
Generally strange clientèle around the place!
I'm probably a bit of a snob having stopped in the Palazzo and PH however I would happily stop in Harrah's/Flamingo based on what I have seen of them, this place was something different altogether.
Obviously this is a non casino hotel but don't want you to have a shock when you get there. The website images are somewhat misleading in my own opinion.

The only people I know who have stayed there were Eck, BAM and The Mole.
Take that as you wish

Are any of the various schedules for the WSOP period out yet?
WSOP were supposed to confirm everything by end of January, & I get their e-Mails, but unless I missed it, it's not been sent yet.
Any of the other rooms published anything yet?
I did try looking on 2+2 last night, but could not even find the right Board, they have a bewildering array.
Any help would be appreciated, tia.

Top work, thank you. That looks like just the $10,000 & up stuff, bit out of my league! But at least we have a start date now.
Found that 2+2 Board now, thank you, this looks to be the only thread so far, (not waded through it yet) but I'll keep any eye on it.

There was a post on HotUkDeals yesterday for a 7 night break in April staying at Luxor for £706 pp if anyone is interested? Not sure if it's a great deal or not but it seems well received over there.

I think they said that the WSOP would be out around Valentines day, and the other rooms build their schedules around the WSOP.
The Venetian will be pretty organised and release their schedule not long after the WSOP
The Nugget will publish one quite early, and then change several events without letting on to the punters.
Last year, Paul at Binions said he was going to 'hammer out the schedule with his guys', in February, and they finally finished hammering in April
I never pay much attention to Caesars as I don't bother playing there, but I think they are normally the last ones to publish.
I'll check and cross post them here as they're released anyway.

Not sure what Thomas Cook prices from Manchester are, but I think a couple lads next door got them for around £500 not long back.
If the flights are anymore than £550, you're basically paying £300 for a week at the Luxor, which dependent on what the general prices are can be a decent price.
When there are things on, it's a case of scouting around all the third party websites to see if they have caught on to things happening in Vegas.
Last year during EDC, everywhere wanted about £100 a night for the Nugget over that weekend, but I managed to get all 3 nights for £120 with lowcostusa who hadn't caught on at that point.

Still don't know if I'm going, but it would have irritated me immensely if I had to pay £700+ down the line.
Got 21st June - 7th July for £500
21st June - El Cortez or South Point
22nd June - 7th July - Golden Nugget
Worked out 1k all in, which is cheaper than the 2 weeks I did last year.

I normally go in June, hotels seem a lot more expensive in April at the moment. Are the prices likely to drop?

Never been in April myself, so don't really have any experience of the prices around that time of the year.
I'd guess that Easter would be expensive, along with any big conventions or events that are going on, too.
If I spot something that seems reasonable, I just book it and then spend 10 minutes checking things every week or so.

Was a sale around Easter last year IIRC.
