Arriving on the BA flight just after 15:00 and staying at TI, so I guess plenty of time to head over and reg, just want to be confident we can get in. Was a bit worried it might be full ahead of the day as it is the last 2 flights.

Just to say that all the advice in this thread has been invaluable to us sorting out this trip and securing a good deal. So thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Yeah, loads of time, and even if it's full, at least you'll be earlier on the late reg list, than if you head over on the day.

We did that for the monster a couple years back, and ended up getting in at about level 5, which just meant I spent less time dusting them off Grin

Just a heads up, but the Colossus was manic last year. We arrived the evening before the last starting day and couldn't get in. It might not be as crazy this year as its not a new event anymore, but if you can pre reg easy enough then would deffo advise that. Saves running around like a headless chicken as soon as you arrive.

I think it will be the same situation as I believe they have guaranteed $1M for the winner this year. Expect insanity, people were queuing at 6am for a 12pm starting flight. Even if you pre-reg, you still have to go and get your seating card and show ID right?

They've just increased the buy in of their normal daily tourneys then and stuck in two Omaha comps? Seems a bit boring IMO, but if you want uniqueness I suppose Planet Hollywood has got that mind boggling Quantum tourney on.

Just seen that pre registration is open for WSOP events, with associated charges.

http://www.wsop.com/registration/default.aspx

Will be heading out for the first time and planning to play the Collosus, arriving on the Friday and playing the last flight day on the Saturday. Any experience on how straight forward it is to register in person or if worth pre registering on line? Assuming will be v busy live especially as it's the last day!

As everyone else has noted, if you can pre-reg Online, then do so.

The queues for Colossus stretched halfway down the Rio Corridor last year, with a 3 to 4 hour wait time.

For WSOP Events, regging in the early hours of the morning works  best, between 1am & 4am. The Reg Office is open & fully staffed 24/7, & you'll be fine if you do that.

You'll need a Players Card first, too, but those are quick & easy to obtain. Same advice though, go get it in the middle of the night, the daytime queues & wait times can be significant. Plenty of places to get a Players Card, but the best place is the counter right next to the Registration Room, in the Main Rio Corridor.

Oh, & when you go to Reg, &/or arrive at your allocated Table, make sure you have your Passport with you. No passport, no play.

It's a good job none of the Sky qualifiers last year caused any drama with this.

Happens every year. There's always one, eh?

It's a good point though, so many players don't realise they need to bring their passport when they play a WSOP event. A simple mistake like that can spoil an otherwise wonderful experience.

Hey guys, anyone stayed at Circus Circus, Stratosphere or Excalibur before. These are the cheapest hotels available that I've heard of. Going for 2/3 weeks so trying to keep costs down. Would you recommend staying at any of these or is it better to pay a bit more?

Stayed at CC and Excalibur in the early 2000s. If I had to pick one of the three I'd just about go with Excalibur, as long as you don't mind that weird horsey smell.

Out of the three Stratosphere probs the nicest but too far out. Excalibur probs the best choice out of the three. Get a room in the tower that is same side as the pool, so don't have to walk through casino to get there

Pay more IMO.

Monte Carlo is a little further towards the middle if your budget can stretch that far. One way to keep costs down is to make use of the wallgreen next door to MC. Saves you a few bucks every day getting the basics. Or have $9 Frosties in Aria...

Also long walks from Excalibur to Bellagio/Aria/Caesars and you'd definitely be taxiing to Venetian/Wynn. Those tenners add up and you end up robbing Peter to pay Paul with the money you save on the hotel.

The biggest problem with a low end hotel is you will spend all your time in nicer ones and then have to go back to yours.

Excalibur is an English themed hotel. In Las Vegas.
