I always recommend Flamingo if you're playing Bellagio/Aria/Caesars on a budget and Harrahs for Venetian/Wynn.

Yea Excal and Circus are holes. I wont even walk in the door let alone sleep in a room.

PH for location and price is the nuts imo.

PH is really good, but not great location if you're grinding the deepstacks and I know you aren't walking that badboy!!

Mate, I wont walk from Bellagio to Ceasars! taxis there for a reason.

I've got an excuse now for that though Grin

Just a quick heads up guys. I'm sure some of you are already aware, but the Virgin Atlantic flight sale is on at the moment.

Managed to get flights for June 2013 (Manchester - Vegas) for £568.14 (direct/return); which is less than I paid when I first went over 6 years ago.

Sale ends mid September I believe.

What dates in June did you get these flights for mate?

16th for two weeks, flying back on the 30th.

Circus Circus hate is fine - it is a dive - but don't let it put you off going to the steakhouse there - went in March with 3 mates and it was absolutely superb. Not cheap, but not stupid-Vegas-expensive either.

IIRC it was recommended by Simon - so a very belated thanks for that Smiley.

Just looked up flights for next March - miles+money in the sale is giving me prices as low at £543, we paid £630 last March. Chance of getting another trip past the wife so soon - slim.

As well as being a dive Circus Circus is a bad location to base yourself. It is a fair walk to get to the Wynn which is the nearest decent casino on the strip and therefore even further to get to the mid part of the strip. The area round it, is not the nicest and all the casinos (stratosphere, rivera etc) look ready to be demolished any minute, in fact that fate befell the Sahara earlier in the year.

If you insist on going on a budget go to IP at least you are near all the action there.

Oh by god yes, I'd never stay there, it's just in the middle of a wasteland at the moment - I was just recommending the restaurant!

Has the Sahara been demolished? Last I heard it had been earmarked for remodelling  ala Plaza or Trop?

Not really sure what the objective is now... seems to have gone from "won't stay in a flea pit" to "which is the best out of the shit-holes"

Well, the shit-holes are much of a much-ness.. all pretty shitty.  You can choose which one you like based on exact location, or you can let the $$ decide.

5th Dec for one week, IP = $20x5/$42x2.

I'd consider Bills ($35/$70) and Ballys ($54/$104) and you will also find rock-bottom prices available for Excalibur and possibly Monte Carlo.

As for the poker rate.... I really don't see the point.  I can't see you grinding in any of the hotels ^^ ??

Sure, if you are going to grind Bellagio / Venetian / Wynn / Aria then it makes sense to take a poker rate and stay there.

But if you choose to stay at IP for $20... not much point in taking a reduced rate (not sure there would be a rate reduced from $20!!) and having an obligation to play 6 hours/day there.  You'd just pay your $20 as somewhere to leave the bags, then you have the freedom to go and grind any cardroom you like?

Has The Fontaineblue(sp?) been completed yet or is it still a half-completed project?

Following on from Adams post re grinding, are there any cardrooms to avoid?
Do they all rake  the same or do some rape you?
Action good in them all?
Same standard or are some busier with tourists/recreational players?
I'm aiming to play a lot at the weekend, and have family time after. fly on 19th sept and can't wait
