Vic & Anthony's & Andiamo are the clear best two, but the other 2 are good, and a bit cheaper.

This question was posed elsewhere on blonde by hhyftyftdr......

Tikay, would like some advice on Vegas old town please.

We're thinking of staying there next May/June after spending a couple nights on Strip.....4Queens is coming up very cheap for a week @ about £230 and no resort fee. Have you stayed there? Thoughts?

What are games like on Freemont St? Is there enough $1/$2 games kicking about at all hours to keep me busy doing my bollocks? Appreciate you prefer that 4 card garbage....

What time do the busses to the Strip end? Or are they 24/7?

In my 4 trips to Vegas, I've only been up to Freemont St once and only played the one MTT there (somehow my 6 high all in bluff on the river got picked off), so my knowledge of all things old town isn't too good. But I know you love it there so any advice would be much appreciated.

TIA.

Used to stay at Wynn/Palazzo every summer, but they didn't go too much on me driving through the champagne rack at the Laguna Bar, so I've been staying at the Nugget since 2012.

Always a few 1/2 games at the Nugget, which are pretty lively, and there is generally one at Binions, too.

Not sure about the buses, but I think you can buy 7day passes for the deuce, which is that bus that goes to the strip.

Just because it's easier for me to be based where I'm going to be spending most of my time, I always stay at the Nugget, even though it's a bit more expensive.

Some friends always stay at the 4 Queens and they say it's perfectly good, too.

I'm booked up June 21st - July 5th, so all being well I'll be out there for at least those 2 weeks.

If you're after freerolling your trip, look out for the drink driver on a mobility scooter, and try and get a seat at any game he's in

Bus wise the deuce is very slow every stop ,the other bus the DTX - downtown express is much quicker with fewer stops think it's 24/7
Don't make the mistake I made and get on the BHX bus - Boulder highway express takes you out of downtown thro skid row ! I wrote about it somewhere

From memory this summer the only place that had a decent 1/2 game was the Nugget. Binions only had Limit the three times I was in there.

Insert Coins has sadly closed down.

Bus info is here: http://www.rtcsnv.com/wp-content/uploads/routes/2014/09/DEUCE.pdf - I think the pass is now $8 for 24hrs.

Everything else has already been answered, but I would recommend spending some time down there. I know I will be next time!

I've used the bus plenty. They do get very busy but come pretty regular. $20 for 3 day pass. They also do 15 and 30 day passes but need to get them from the bus depots (one near downtown)

I haven't played any cash downtown last couple of visits so don't know what the games are like now. Obv bonus compared to the strip is the close vicinity of the casinos to each other

Thanks for the comments guys. Just had another mooch at prices and they have shifted a little bit. 4Queens is now coming up at £272 for 7 nights, and the D is down to £168 for the week, though the D has a resort fee I believe? Even with that in mind, the D now looks a great option.

Took the express bus to and from Downtown this year, if that runs 24/7 then that will really swing staying at Freemont St in favour.

The D resort fee was more than the daily rate for the room this Summer so it might work out pricier than 4Q.

Express bus only runs between 9am and Midnight. Its the slow bus that runs 24/7.

Flew to Vegas from Heathrow with BA in 2011, and it was comparable to Virgin.

Got bumpedon the way out, and it wasn't much diff from Virgin PE.

Hitting Vegas later today so if anyone is around and wants to meet for a few beers give me a shout. Downtown for 2 days then up near the strip for 3.

Do you have to pay up front, Mark, or can you just book, pay a small deposit, & then cancel later?
