Only hotel that doesnt charge resort fees thats worth going to is Four Queens downtown. Everyone else on the Strip or downtown still charges them afaik.

For me, the best approach is to not pay much attention to resort fees, and look for a price that you're happy with for your stay.

Casino Royale (Best Western) is the only one on the strip that I'm aware of.

Happy Christmas everyone.

The beauty of this thread is to nick a bit of value ~ and to do Vegas right.  RF's are a red herring.  People try too hard to swerve $99 + RF and prefer $189 no fees instead.... makes no sense.

The real trick is just to compare the bottom line of what you will ultimately be paying for your stay.  Most of the time, your quoted hotel rate can be beaten by $50/per night anyway just by looking in the right place for a better price for the same hotel.  Do that, and be happy to give it to them back for the RF?

^^^^^

Exactly that. It makes no sense to fixate on RF, you are going to pay it one way or another.

Happy Xmas Simon.

Worded much more eloquently, and 100% correct.

Happy Xmas mate!

If you want to go direct next summer, BA go from LGW and VA go from LHR, so there is that consideration if one airport is much better for you than the other.  Otherwise, somewhere like www.skyscanner.net will give you are fair guide as to prices for your intended dates.  Prices are highly variable, bordering on insane for some dates right now.  There are 'sales' currently on, not really that focussed on the summer, and there are usually Easter sales at least, if not one other sale window before.

As for hotel, it will depend on where you want to be located and what you might want to spend most of your time doing.  3 weeks is going to give you a fairly hefty hotel bill wherever you stay and saving $20 a night will add up to a decent amount.  However, the right way to do it is to stay at a much better hotel for $20 per night less than the advertised rate for the inferior hotel.  That's where this board comes in handy, plenty of people have their own fav websites to go to ~ the thing to remember is that the hotel rates aren't fixed, they are highly variable and often fluctuate wildly according to anticipated occupancy.  In other words, you can look once and see a bad price, but it doesn't mean you couldn't get a good price for the same hotel via a different route that same day, OR that the price won't be much better from the same route the following day.  It really is down to how much effort you want to put in to securing a great deal.

1. Do you want to stay near the poker action at the Rio (offstrip) Or downtown? Or on the strip?  Will you rent a car?  Usually the best way to get help from this thread is to have a search and put up the dates/prices that you have found that look reasonable to you and others will usually beat it (better hotel, same money or same hotel, better money, and sometimes better hotel for better money)

2. Direct websites are usually best if you are unsure about the length of your stay as you will have cancellation flexibility that 3rd party websites don't offer

3. Are you open to doing things like hotwire / airbnb / vrbo / homeaway / priceline

Usually each year, someone pays more to stay in Excalibur at some point than it would have been to have stayed at Bellagio.  Presumably blissfully unaware that they have done so, of course, but that is all part of doing Vegas right.

The nearer the middle of the strip you stay the more you pay for. RFB room food beverage
$30 for 2 drinks think vodka n tonic gin n tonic
Downtown $10\$12 or less
We had 3 weeks last June
South point -7 days comped on my Mrs slot play we talking $200-300 per night
Downright grand same mainly comped not such good quality rooms but a great pool deck
3 nights in a tower suite at the Wynn cost $1700 absolutely fabulous my Mrs loved it so did I
Her $200-300 a night got us a free lunch buffet ! I only did $2 k the host poo poohed that !
Then 6/7 nights at the nugget all very reasonable n normal plus some comping
The Rios ok I’ve stayed there 2/3 times but it’s a bit pricey compared to others

Downtown is your best bet
Use Uber - our first time last year using it it’s great

There’s poker everywhere all levels of buyins downtown has best structure n most chips

All in all it’s a great experience

If anyone has time to search for hotel deals trying to add a friend to our trip.

So far we have people in the Casino Royale (ROFL), Linq and Aria.

Check in 27/02 Check out 03/03

We seem to be stuck around Linq, MGM, Ballys, Harrah's all coming out around £400 inc tax and RF

Anything else worth looking at?

Just off out, but will have a look when I get back this afternoon.

Casino Royale has no resort fees, though  🙄

Yes, that was the main criteria for that individual, we explained it was shit, but he said ...

Pity the fool who pays resort fees

If you really like airport lounges, or 760 BA tier points, how about Vegas return for £964 - in business. Masochists only need apply.
