Best of luck to all my Aspers Northampton lot who are playing a 24 hour cash game which started this evening.  Sound like there could be some good banter there, hopefully it happens again! I'd like to think I'm one of the 'few' whove played a few sessions like that already.  Some even with a reindeer hat on. Cheesy

game was v fun, i just left. Will more than likely be more happening, game didn't drop below 6 handed for 30+ hours

On the poker side though....

From what I can remember, the following hands made us win a lot of money.

First hand at the table

Open to $22 over a straddle cos we is a boss, forgot to sit short for the first orbit.. but this time it worked for me.

FLOP

check, check, we cbet $35 and get three callers..

TURN

check, lead for $55, we ship all in for the remainder of our $400 buyin, tank fold behind and call from the leader...

He has   , and we do a hold for an instant double up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know those 'good' sessions where you just 'know' and feel good the entire time and you know you're always going to win in these sessions, right from the start?

Well this was one of those!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then bleed $250 raising pre and check folding a lot...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Open   over a straddle again and go 3 ways, get to a   flop - cbet, call, call.

See a   and cc a shortie shove of $125 into 300 (he's a little crazy and could literally have any pair or draw.

We bink the mighty Q ball and win against Q9o

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE BIG ONE

This however is the reason we won a lot of money... the 'villain' in the hand is the guy who invited us over to the home game, Eduardo.  He's a really nice guy and I'm really close in retrospect as to whether I like this hand or not.

I open   utg over a straddle and get about 6 callers or something insane.

FLOP
  two spades

checks to me, I check, checks round.

TURN

checks to me, I check, checks to button (Ed) and he bets $200 into about the same amount..

In this spot I think he has Jx 100% of the time, clearly we beat a lot of the Jx hands he has, but also I think our hand isn't strong enough to call, cc river.

With the hand playing out how it has, I know he will fold AJ/ one paired hands all the time if I shove here, and he NEVER checks back a set on that flop.  So his hand is sometimes flush draws (rare), Jx and occasionally 'spew'/ want to take it down cos its been checked twice.

We shove for $823 and he takes a long time... asks me if i have trips? I say, honestly "I have the best hand mate, i'm sure of it... you'd have already called with better".
There is no angle here, that's what I thought, I like him and I don't mind if he calls or not.

He makes a comment about how he knows im not ool here ever and he thinks I have trips... at which point I start to wonder if he just turned J7/ J4 or something... (clearly he isn't folding that).

And he tank calls it off saying "its a donation John, I'm sure of it.."

And tables J7.

Woooops....

thank you very much... please ship the $2k over here Mr. Dealerman.

I commiserate Ed, get him a drink and he says he called because he thought I would have   a chunk... He was right, good read.

Nice bink and we gots some moneys.... best of all though is we now have a LOT of chips, and begin building my first ever 5wide based chip pyramid!

she had 3 storeys and lots of colours!

pic to follow when I get home (it has casino name in the pic).

We win a few small pots after and finish the session with just shy of $2800, in for 500. gd times.

I cash out and find the leicester guy 'Ricki' in the lobby just going up into the club in the casino and his cousin the guy with all the connections comes over and says for me to come out with them.  I'm wearing my 'Sesame Street' green tshirt, cargos and pacman flip flops!

We get upstairs even though they have a strict shoe policy and then the 'goose' and mixers start flowing cos theyve got some bottles already on the go.  I manage to resist but the mocktails and the redbull kept me going!

Turns out there was a little damage to the mudguard on the pickup from where it got stuck in the mud, and with the pressure of something coming up the second in command blew a gasket or two today.

To make peace and look good to the office, It's been suggested I go back a little early.. as 95% of the work is done anyways (the other guys are going home early too, just in a day or two)...

So homeward bound - from Maputo, Mozambique.

Its nice, hot.. but I probably wouldn't choose to come back.  Food is average at best, and people friendly but so corrupt!

Looking forward to getting home, but not to the hassle that will undoubtedly come from the damage to the car.  It's the tiniest bump in the world and the bottom of the mudguard is a little loose, it doesnt rattle, move or not work... might as well be nothing.  Should only cost me a few quid apparently, which is good news.

But we live and move on.. accidents happen.

Anyways, I'm more pumped about winning at poker, not bluffing so much... so when I bet i get called and win... oh and binking flushes when needed for big pots!

got some pics for later but need to resize them first.

no no, didn't go... figured my first private game appearance was best left out of Mozambique.  They all turned up at the casino anyways, think it was 'off' this week in the end.

Just got back, lost a couple of massive pots vs the big playing blackjack and roulette players.  I was a favourite in one, and a massive dog in the other.  But I'm super happy with both.  Other than that I managed to win a bowl on AQx with QQ when people would get in any Ax which is a shame.

Pot 1
, UTG+1.. the UTG guy is the roulette player, and one of the two big players in the game who likes to play big pots, and bet big.  He's currently tilting and has just stacked off twice for $400 into $35 pots with 1x bare nut flush draw + over and 1x bare Jx on KQ10.

We peel his open of $32 in order to generate calls behind and we do so, going to a flop 5 ways.

He open shoves all in and we can't wait to get the money in.  He's going to have EVERY draw of every kind... and we has a pair + draw = nuts.

For some extra outs, and we're still close to evens with one card vs most one pair hands.

He has KQo and the  does not fill our wonder-draw.  Meh.

RELOAD!

Pot 2

This will sound thin, like ultra thin.  But its vs the other big player who in this spot has called pre, call flop and bet big when checked to on the overcard.  He will have all the straight draws and every paired hand, probably gutshots and a bunch of Ax airballs, even Kx sometimes (evidenced).

But we craise pre (4handed) and cbet, cshove

on

and he pulls the counting chips and reluctantly puts them in... I show A7 and he tells me he has a 9 - fml! 4 handed and he flops tp, this sounds crazy I know but he said himself, he calls with a 7 and a 4.  sick beat!

He has 92o and does a hold.  I just laughed, he did too and I wished them all a good night.
#keepingitclassy

Anyways, wounds licked and rest of profit is protected in the room.  I leave the game after 5 sessions a roughly $1020 profit in a $1/2 game.  I've played 3 sessions of 5 hours, 1 session of 4 hours and 1 session of 2 hours.

That's a tidy $49/ hour and I think I played bad for at least some of it.  Keep that up please!
