ok. I might be wrong here, but I just wondered why you are taking a high variance line (I think) in a game that presumably you must beat...so play smaller ball in these marginal spots no?

Coz his first name is 'John' and his surname is 'm'fkin Black' ldo.

but even the modern reincarnation of Stu Unger, Mr Black, is trying to win consistently without putting himself in these high variance spots, or shouldn't he be?

Why play a big pot o-o-p with Q-2, flop part of it and do the lot/win the lot?

got to be better ways of grinding than that

No offence John, somethimes I just read and scratch my head :-)

But we had played on the table a few hours and had played very differently vs each other, even exchanging a little glance, wink, nod and chip change.

Vintage!!!

Tighty, the guy has had 189 pages of solid advice, it's time to just smile and move on. Q2 utg and getting it in on AAK flop is often going to turn a deece profit, you will learn soon enough.

More ridic levelling yourself John. Just because you're both aware that you are competent players doesn't mean that he's gunna start bluff raising flops that smash your perceived opening range.

Raising AJ here is terrible from him unless you're going to do exactly what you did and spaz out. You let him play perfectly against you. I'd also very strongly disagree that he folds Ax >0% of the time because you just don't rep anything apart from a flush draw when you 3b jam this flop and its live 200NL.

Who ever raise/folds Ax on AAK ever ever ever? Nobody.

you may extend your range so q10s is in your range, but extending it to q2 is just literally taking things to an extreme that results in your $ being burned.

Having an ok session at the hippo..

Currently losing a bowl, bit have moved from a table of average age 45 to a younger table in hopes someone might try to bluff me.
Calling a raise preflop would be a good start.

I had caught him being ool before this against me.. He definitely doesn't love life when I shove.. I know it looks like a FD a lot..

That was the point, to 'look' like a flush draw.

Anyways..
Back to it, call it a blowup if you will... But I dont hate a blowup with a nut draw.
Better than 5high like I used to.

Thats great when villains thought process is 'he can own me here with nutted hands hoping that I put him on a flush draw and jam light, so I should fold'

Not so much when its 'I have trips, I call'

Which player do you think you'll run into the most at 200NL?

How about this hand I just played.

Open CO over a straddle and limp for 15   , 3 callers.

FLOP

Check, check, cbet 30, fold, fold, call (big stack - just doubled up)

TURN

He leads for 30, we make it 85, he calls.

RIVER

He checks and we bet 175, he tank folds.
Then shows a K.

Meh...

And this is the point that winds me up...
Im NOT blindly doing these things..

Im picking people that I think will think like player A.

Its not like I hate money... His tank for a couple of minutes showed he was somewhat player A, but not quite enough.

i just dont get this.
surely the first table is gonna be easy to play cos you're never put in any tough spots, just play good aggressive poker and accumulate nice and steady.
table 2 you want to play high variance "fancy" poker and feed Alex some more #realjohnblacktweets.

A couple of pages ago everyone thought you'd got it,but i fear that its gonna be more of the lols at JB spew and not respecting JB for being a winning player.
