Girls - had a fun week where myself and a girlyfriend have decided we're going to formalise our 'thing' and i guess i have a gf again now.  Strange part is she seems very similar to me in a few ways.

Good luck going solo bud, one thing I would say is that a 2bi stop loss is a bit too nitty.

General rule of thumb is 5, so go for 3-4 imo

Fair comment, will look to 3 but im starting with a really light BR and treat it as 'paying' to learn.

A lot has happened this week, some good, some bad, some rough and some with potential.

Im not going to epic blog it, however...
- been in London for work this week, for those that know me, you know I dont do 'early', on time or generally any time in the am pre 9.  Well getting the 0619 train everyday has been interesting.  Made it everyday, today was closest.. Ran down stairs, in doors and sat as they close. Wink

- as a result been playing small live sessions in the evenings.. Running genuinely bad for about 300, made around £1k worth of mistakes, many being folding too much. Sad
currently dead level after 4 sessions and 13hours.

- not only have a gf, but one that is really good to me, probably good for me and would let me brag quite a bit on here, were I the type Wink

- work has been ok, got a lot to do in these big London buildings..  Always gets me how 'big' everything is when inside in London..
Its crazy how far underground things go and in Westminster at least (fco main) its beautiful buildings..

- a little overtime and traveltime never killed anyone but couple that with a grind and there isn't much time for anything else.

- people watching on trains/ tube is a lot of fun.

- been eating pretty healthily, and even walking a little.. At this rate might start to shift my extra few pounds.

- really enjoyed the live grind, tried to be a force for 'good' on the table.
Ensured I respect every player, which has not only made me a few fun 'poker friends' but has meant I didnt blindly wander into a few situations.

- think my car is on the way out..  Sad not sure I've got enough to splash out on a new one atm, considering 'making do' for a couple of months and finally investing some money in a 'not £500 car'

- other than that, I've had some mixed opinions on me, this blog, my approach and my poker in recent months.  I know how far ice come.  Its tough for me to express it, but reading through the pages every 20-30 or so, I hear a different JB each time.  I find it harder to listen than most, thinking I already know or have considered etc.. Its almost never deliberate rudeness, more innocent arrogance/ confidence/ exuberance.
However, I genuinely want to continue forward this year, making larger strides than before.

Im pretty lucky to have the friends, connections, support and advice I do.

So lets go see some flops!

Peace, a newly enlightened 7am John Black.  (no mthrfkr or any bollocks... Just jb.)

One thing I used to hate when I was in the mob was mornings, getting up at 7 was bad enough  especially when I was based at Chicksands and had to get up at 4am to drive back on a Monday morning. Even worse than that was when I was at sea, you had to do the middle/morning watches which meant getting up at midnight/4am to sit in the ops room for 4 hours and then work your normal day too Sad

Call on 'folding too much' Wink

Glad things are working out for you, lol @ would let me brag on here!

I loved living in London for all the aggro it was on the most part, used to love doing a bit of people watching when stuck in traffic on the way into the middle of town.

Why not get something small on contract hire and chop it in every couple years for a new one?

Also, don't think there are any mixed opinions though mate... it's pretty much a universal opinion that you're a hero!

solid post. optimisim ftw sir.

Having fun on the £1/2 'deepstacked' game at the hippo...

Was going to get a hotel and have a rest and grind the graveyard shift, but then they were stupidly expensive, far away, or grotty looking hellholes.

So instead, gone back to the old 'long session' and decided to play through the night, go home early on the train in the morning as I dont have to worry about driving...

We had rescued the week with a -500 to +600 swing.. But now on the way back.

Made one small and bluff earlier, other than that just struggled to have the best hand in some normal spots.

Had an unfortunate one where UTG has J2dd vs my 10d7h on 7xxddd.... Sad
was a small one..

Game has fluctuated between bad, good, bad and good again... One pretty good player and a mix of different styles in the rest.

Its really rare these days that I want something from poker, or I want it to do something or to see some 'justice' be served.

But this one guy at my table atm, he is an older, non UK national and he's slowrolling.. Being rude and I just got into a pot with him
77 vs KK aipf for a lot of money.

He not only saw my 77 really early, but then sighed and said "only a K".
The board runs out

A 8 9 rainbow

"just a King..."

10

smiles as he throws two red KK's down.. (hmmm..... Nice.)

And I swear, I have never in all my poker life that I can remember, never prayed for a binkmepls like i was now........
We have 7's, 6's and the Jay's.....

But cannot find one.

Sad

On to the next pot.

Had a rough session overall... Losing quite a bit.

Feel like I played pretty solid B+/A- game for most of it... Dipping up and down a little.
Changed gears a lot, slowed down and tightened when good players made good adjustments, etc...

But just lost a lot of pots that were £100 flips or 60/40's (vice versa) and a couple of big 20/80's.

Kept grinding back up to the 1k mark then setup with a big hand...

Final straw was just now, young Chinese kid comes to the table. I've played with him before and know he likes to move and or shake.  I open K4cc from SB into his bb, super passive straddle and button limp who I've got a good grasp on.

He peels, they fold.

two spades

I cbet 3/5pot, call

Turn

I cbet big, making it clear I can't fold to his stack size 65> 210 and he shoves A5dd anyways.
I snap..

River
Bricks out and he goes to fold his cards face down...

Then another player pipes up "you have to show first... Show your cards"

Then.... He turns them over.

The dealer is a good one and had his hand ready to muck them, little annoyed with 3rd party player but meh.
#theyjustknow

So now stood up with some crumbs left.... Going home.

To have a great weekend with my lady and forget poker temporarily.

Sad

Still love it, but now I've even stopped bluffig anywhere near as much and just have value hands, im still struggling.
