So Qatar beat Russia 2-1 in an international friendly this evening.
Any thoughts on that?
Seemingly Qatar were about 3/1, so doesn't seem a huge upset (unless it was a huge upset that they were 3/1).

I just thought that it seemed like a covenient boost to their credibility as WC hosts.
Perhaps I'm becoming too cynical.

The Browns are one of the worst teams against opposing tight ends
they typically try to take away the WR1, doubling him, and have a poor run defense too so the tight end is frequently singled up or left open
this season opposing tight end performances include
Witten 9-102-1 (receptions, yards, touchdowns)
M Bennett 6-67-3
Gronk 5-109-0
Reed 9-73-2
Pitta 9-102
Ertz 6-58
Ladbrokes and Coral have stuck up over/under 45 for Pitta tonight
hopefully, for my now depleted wallet, Pitta goes over that

We are hoping Cleveland win for our 49ers bet, a great call in that they only have one win but we need a Cleveland win from somewhere
Number Fire's metrics predict him to get 55.6 receiving yards.
Anyone else taking Cleveland against the spread tonight? 7.5 is a lot for an uninspiring offense like Baltimore's.
Had them to beat the spread in the prediction league and avoided them like the plague on the Handicap bet. Obviously the Ravens Defence/Browns offence is that good/bad. I thought they'd keep it to under 10 difference. I take it we all lumped on Seth DeValve first TD scorer? Was obvious that one.
I'll try and post something Sunday afternoon this week for the thread. Missed last week's then got shot down on the one I suggested, which in fairness was left way too late anyway. So I'll try and get in early this time.

I did see that, yes, it was a little harsh I thought - good sentiment but poorly expressed by the respondent before & after, iirc.
Keep sticking stuff up & we'll find the right balance.

Meh. It's the Internet. I'll keep posting stuff up. If it gets accepted then great. If not then I'll move on.

Qatar have some players in their squad with some suspiciously non Middle Eastern sounding names. When they hosted the handball world cup they got a bunch of ringers in from traditional handball nations and ended up doing pretty well. Perhaps the same plan for the World Cup coming up there?

They haven't really done anything wrong their record scorer Soria has played in Qatar for years and was naturalised early on. Born in Uruguay scored buckets in Qatar for years.
They actually had a decentish team in the 90s

In theory anyone playing 5 years in the Quatari league would be eligible, so they could end up with a mix of nationalities lured by a nice paycheque.
I read that for handball people were switching their passports for the duration of the tournament then switching back...

I think they did do that a while back but I am quite sure at least more of the squad are naturalised now rather than passport jobs...

I suppose it's little different from the ever-growing number of NZ, SA and Pacfiic Islanders who will be playing in the Six Nations.
