What is the reason behind the lighter gloves?

should we be backing Mayweather at 1/3? He can't be 1/3 (technique, speed) against a novice can he?

it can't possibly be fixed to produce a second fight can it? or can it?

A debutant isn't going to beat an elite fighter on is debut because it's their debut. A pop group member on their first week in Stricly isn't going to rival their professional dance partner, even a layman will notice they look stiff and clumsy in comparison.

Channing nailed it on the Matchbook podcast regarding backing Mayweather on the day in a sport he knows nothing about and will never watch, whilst also mentioning the lack of stoppages. I suspect he'll manage to talk more sense on next week's preview pod than the rest of the cast combined.

It certainly could.

Looks more like a 1 billion dollar short con to me, and a potentially tedious exhibition rather than a standard paced boxing bout.
Let's hope is goes evens!  Who knows what price it can go.   I asked someone a couple of months ago and they said they would have a triple max at 1/7!  It might go off evens!  #donttapthetank

The price is simply insane. I'd happily have the lot on the British Champ at 1/3 v McGregor never mind one of the best of all time going for 50-0. 1/33 would be much closer to the mark.

I am getting those Kell Brook v Frankie Gavin get round the shops vibes!  Kell was 1/8 and i steamed in.  i think this is a bigger mis match and i can get 1/3!

The best I can see is 2/7, which I'm more than happy to take, but the general consensus is we should still wait?

For record there was 600k done today at 1.3+. 12 of the 17 million market total being traded on Mayweather.  Currently Betty go 1.28/1.29 which is matched by several bookies.

McGregor's bottom spike was 320k at 4.3 on Friday morning. The trade reeks of one bookie reducing their liability on Conor.

Hold!

What is the reason behind the lighter gloves?

Hype and PPV sales. Everything comes back to PPV sales.

Fyi the smaller gloves are the same ones that Mayeather has used at 147lb and below for his entire career (minus the couple of occasions he fought at 154lb).

Ok, Ty, but what does lighter gloves, actually mean in the fight? Are the punches less cushioned? Does the opponent feel each punch more?

Are we assuming CM won't actually get a glove on FM, so it's not in his favour as much as Joe Punter would imagine?

Not wind up questions, I genuinely don't know.

Basically yeah the gloves are lighter therefore in theory punches will have more impact. The perception is this benefits McGregor as he is viewed as the puncher. Most seem to be ignoring the fact that Floyd used 8oz gloves every time he fought below 147. The only effect the gloves will have is they make the Floyd KO marginally more likely.

Many get the 40-1 Jack Marriott for League 1 golden boot? Looks a great bet now, guy is sensational. Poshies are L1's answer to Leicester and he's the Vardy figure.

Rotherham will be right up there though, Kieffer Moore is more than a handful. He'll be a big danger for Bootage.

It's incredible really that FM was 1/2 vs Pacquiao and is 1/3 vs CM

He was 1/20 in his last match vs Andre Berto, so by that logic If CM now, fought Andre Berto then he'd be like a 1/4 shot? Having never boxed before. Seems mad.

Everything in my body is telling me to get the big guns out at 1.3+

Scuy have Chalobah 100-30 and Harry Maguire 4-1 to make the England 2018 World Cup squad. Would suggest these are both somewhat too big.

Calling Railwayman...George Cooper? Thought?

Imo Maguire is certainly too big. Superb bet imo at those odds. I may be rushing into things though. How many cb's are usually taken and who are the candidates?

A fortnight ago Maguire was contacted to double check eligibility. I can't find the article but he mentioned it in an interview to local press

i am biased but he is big and strong but can play too. left footed, good range of passing

can play in a two,spareman in a 3,left side in a 3

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4776008/Leicester-new-signing-Harry-Maguire-dreaming-England.html

4-5 go

Stones
Cahill
M Keane
Smalling?
Phil Jones?
Holding?
Ben Gibson?

Dier can play two spots so you can go light there too

so its a crowded heat, quite well stacked at the position

Considering those listed I think he's comfortably top 4 if form holds. No reason to think not as from Silva taking over at Hull onwards at CB he's been consistently great. Only thing against him I saw was he was chubby looking, but appears to have slimmed down this summer.

He may be overlooked for Stones/Jones/Smalling because of who they play for but on talent alone I think he offers more than the above currently. Probably a controversial view.

Only with Sky unf, yuh.

I'm keener on Chalobah of the pair. He's Southgate's pet and is about to get named in the squad for the two upcoming qualifiers.

Both now 100-30.
