The Vuelta a Espana starts today. Us Brits are a bit good on a bicycle these days.

The opinion is it's a head to head battle with Contador and Froome, with Contador favourite.

Contador, returning from a doping ban, is expected to ride himself in to form over the 3 week tour. With plenty of tough mountain stages, the Contador from 2010 would have been an even stronger favourite.

Froome, Sky's leader rider, will be desperate for the win to go in to next seasons Tour de France as the team leader. A long racing season could take its toll, particularly as the forecast is for a very hot & windy stages.

My tip, Joaquím Rodríguez. He has had a strong season, 2nd in the Giro, 2nd in the Tour of the Basque Country. An exceptional climber in a strong Katusha team, he has a stronger opportunity than the current 14/1 on betfair.

I'd suggest a £5 or £10 bet for a 3 week sweat in the sun is good value.

Hightlights on ITV4 at 8. Live on Eurosport.

Good morning Mr Photo Archive Man, & welcome to Fred - your first Tip, or that I can recall, thanks.

I have never heard of Vuelta a Espana, Contador, or Joaquim, but we are making a small profit, & three weeks sweat for a Tenner @ 14/1 fits the bill a treat for some cheap fun.

Guess you follow the Cycling, so keep the tips coming please.

We are on @ 14/1 with Betfair, for a tenner.

I like over 2.5 goals in Derby vs Sheff Wednesday at 11/10 with Ladbrokes.

Wednesday are vunerable to crosses especially from from set pieces/corners and conceded two goals against Oldham which could easily have been double that. The two full backs Buxton and Reda Johnson were very poor defensively. Derby scored all their five goals midweek from corners/crosses.

Derby conceded five goals in midweek against League One Scunny at home.

Wednesday have two quick wingers Johnson and Antonio who will be a threat.

I'm on at 11/10.

Thanks Rick.

I need some views/help from others with that one please, I don't have a clue if it reps value, or how much you are suggesting.

I'm not mad keen on getting into football for meaningful money until things settle down, to be honest.

Anyone else got any views on this?

when I know full well that he really puts them up for the purposes of "trading" them out,

Actually, I think this is worthy of one more comment...

I think if anyone is putting up tips to trade out, they should say so.  Another example might be Camel, who, it has occurred to me in the past, has put up lots of e.w. max bets (not particularly on this thread) where people will blindly follow him in on his rep.

But probably Keith was fully intending to trade out of the win part and leave himself an astronomically good value place bet, whereas many followers wouldn't have realised/understood that this was the caper.

I can't speak for Camel, but I have discussed Chompy's tips with him on numerous occasions, and my tardyness at doing them, he specifically puts them up with a view to giving us trading options. I just have a mental block with it, despite lots & lots of help, mainly from the ever-patient Mere, but also from Ralph. I bet I've exchanged between 50 & 100 e-Mails wuth Mere on trading logic. It's just a blind spot I seem to have, or maybe an age-related thing, I dunno.

Talking of Chompy's Tip, I get early sight of Sky Bet PR stuff, & they put this out earlier today - on Chompy's selection!

Prodigality 4/1 from 6/1 – 2.20 Ripon

Landed a massive touch winning his maiden and is arguably still improving. Bolted up at Brighton last time out although the gaps couldn’t have opened any better. The draw has been quite fair this year at Ripon so assuming a high draw is no disadvantage Graham Lee could have another decent sprint winner after his Stewards Cup victory.

Good game this.

Even though the skies are quite clear, it is very humid and there's a lot of moisture in the air - hence it playing like Trent Bridge right now.

this is from a derby season ticket whose opinion i respect on another forum

"FWIW I think Derby will be in the relegation fight again this year after selling our best player (Shackell) and our other best defender being out for the entire season. Tuesday's 5-5 draw, having been 4-0 up, gives some demonstration to our frailties. We are also not that good going forwards, so it casts some doubt on Scunthorpe's ability to defend!"

Tom Segal aka Pricewise in the Racing Post who is the most influential tipster out there also put it up so it's no surprise that it shortened up dramatically.

I'm not Andrew.....but we do NOT want the pitch/conditions to flatten out

SA have to bat again, yes, but  on balance continued balance bat and ball is good
