Pinnacle have Venus Williams at 69/1 to win the US Open. She is as short as 20/1 elsewhere. I'd suggest that this is worth £20 with a view to trading later in the tournament depending how things work out.

http://www.oddschecker.com/tennis/us-open/womens-us-open/winner

If she beats Li Na today the price will shorten dramatically so it needs to be placed today.

Contrary arguments.
Venus is very unlikely to be seeded and hence might get a really tough draw. Alternatively she might beat a "soft" top seed early and inherit an easier path to the later stages.
There is always a chance that Venus' illness will flare up and cause her to lose unexpectedly but she is coping really well at the moment.

I have sent you a PM, Vince, hopefully, given my previous comments, you can assist!

I believe Fred should deffo do this.

Is 40/1 betfair. Get on now.

I assume you understand the concept of trading (backing a horse to win a grand and laying someone else the same stake to win a monkey = monkey freeroll) and are having trouble getting your head around the Betfair platform?  Pretty sure a 10 minute tutorial would solve.

Such posts need bumping by the person posting if they are getting lost in the chaff.

Strongly disagree - to keep bumping your own tip would be hubristic in the extreme.  It should fall on everyone BAR the poster to recognise the value of the tip and/or track record of the poster and bump.

the majority of the horse racing tips put up on here have drastically shortened in price , unfourtantley they appear to have a habit of not winning

i am not sure the threads remit was to trade away for its life for a green screen but i may be wrong

Each person can take something different away from this thread.  My view was that it was all about getting the best of it and being able to beat the books.  Over time, I have taken other things away too.  "Nicking a tick" can be a pretty lonely pursuit, the camaraderie on this thread, (which includes well-intentioned banter) is a definite plus.

Whilst I don't think this thread was ever put up as "a nits guide to arbing" there are various ways of getting the best of it.  Putting up 10/11 shots that win 7 times out of 10 gets you hero status on here.  Putting up 20/1 shots that can be laid off at 5/1 but don't win doesn't.  Even when that could be > putting up 10/11 shots that win 10 times out of 10.*

I like over 2.5 goals in Derby vs Sheff Wednesday at 11/10 with Ladbrokes.

Wednesday are vunerable to crosses especially from from set pieces/corners and conceded two goals against Oldham which could easily have been double that. The two full backs Buxton and Reda Johnson were very poor defensively. Derby scored all their five goals midweek from corners/crosses.

Derby conceded five goals in midweek against League One Scunny at home.

Wednesday have two quick wingers Johnson and Antonio who will be a threat.

I'm on at 11/10.

News on the grapevine is that QPR have added Jose Bowinga to their ranks. Another rumour surfacing is that Barton is off to Marseille on a season long loan and Stephane Mbia, the Cameroon International, is heading to London. He would be another huge signing along with Ji Sung Park and keeping hold of Taarabat.

QPR are currently +37 points in the Premiership handicap on Betfair and I can see them easily getting 50 odd points this season. 89 points won it last year which means they would have to win 5 more games than last season with a vastly superior squad. I believe there are some QPR fans on here who might add something to this, I've had a cheeky £20 at 14s for a season long sweat. I may even top up if I can find the bet on other sites I use, according to Oddschecker only on PP, Betfred and Totesport are currently offering these bets.

Please note neither of these transfers have been confirmed by the Club as far as I know.

Thanks.

We have a number of QPR specialists amongst the Fred Regulars, so let's see what they have to say.

89 points won the league but not the handicap league.

Just catching up. They don´t need to win the "Handicap League though do they? Don´t they just get a 37 point "starty" on the winners?

The Vuelta a Espana starts today. Us Brits are a bit good on a bicycle these days.

The opinion is it's a head to head battle with Contador and Froome, with Contador favourite.

Contador, returning from a doping ban, is expected to ride himself in to form over the 3 week tour. With plenty of tough mountain stages, the Contador from 2010 would have been an even stronger favourite.

Froome, Sky's leader rider, will be desperate for the win to go in to next seasons Tour de France as the team leader. A long racing season could take its toll, particularly as the forecast is for a very hot & windy stages.

My tip, Joaquím Rodríguez. He has had a strong season, 2nd in the Giro, 2nd in the Tour of the Basque Country. An exceptional climber in a strong Katusha team, he has a stronger opportunity than the current 14/1 on betfair.

I'd suggest a £5 or £10 bet for a 3 week sweat in the sun is good value.

Hightlights on ITV4 at 8. Live on Eurosport.

Good, tough heat for Sawpit Sensation in the Irish Derby tonight. Couple of pingers, including Tynwald Bolt who I backed for the The Derby, but I think we´ll assert late and go well. Good luck us.

You are happy with T5 presumably? FWIW, the Racing Post are very sweet on him winning tonight.

We are off & running, & with much assistance from Mere, we have £20 with Pinnacle @ 69/1.

ON

Venus Williams, US Open, £20 ? 69/1.

Bet placed with one eye on Trading it in due course..........

As it is Mere's Recommend, I guess he gets to decide if, when, & @ what price, we trade.
