Whats coming up?
Finally, Miss World will be decided today, in Inner Mongolia, China, of all places. Who'd have thunk? Curiously, Miss China PR is now clear 2nd fave @ 5/1. Good luck her.

Daily Report as @ 0845, Sunday August 19th
We booked another winning day yesterday, not much, but dripping taps soon fill baths & all that, & we are ticking along nicely now.
We placed 4 new bets, two completed (one winner, one loser, we ended dead level on money), & two continue.
Of our running bets, one completed successfully, the others all continue.
We sweved a ton of losers yesterday, which I believe is a good thing.
Golf.
Well done yet again to Sandy (henrik77) who once again predicted a winner in the Hole in One market, this time that there WOULD be one (in the Wyndham), & Jeff Overton obliged, to net us a £50 profit. Sandy must have given us 4 or 5 of these, & all except one have got home, I believe. Splendid stuff.
Hector gave us 2 Outrights in the Wyndham, we wrote Toms off on Friday after he missed the cut, but Nick Colsaerts continues to entertain us, & he is right up there, & very much in with a chance. We have £5 EW @ 49/1, & the Tourney concludes today. Our Belgian friend is 5 off the lead, held surprisingly by comeback kid Sergio Garcia.
http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/leaderboard
Tennis
We got on Venus Williams, thanks to Mere, @ 69/1, for the US Open next month. This bet is viewed as a potential greener-outer, with Mere to make the decision as he sees fit.
Cycling.
Yup Cycling, we have a new Cycling Corry, Mr Tonji.
On Day One of the Vuelta a Espana, which seems to be a sort of Spanish Tour de France, our selection, Joaquim Rodriguez, finished handily, 15 seconds behind the Stage Winner. This one lasts for nearly 3 weeks. We have a tenner @ 14/1.
http://www.cyclingnews.com/vuelta-a-espana/stage-1/results
Cricket
What a fabulous Test it has been so far, with all three results still possible, but Tighty's bold selection, South Arica, are now favourites @ around 11/10.
Both England, & the Draw, are available @ around 5/2.
A draw IS entirely possible, too, if SA batted all day today, & the pitch & weather holds, it could happen.
Fred is hoping South Africa have a good first session today, maybe 75 runs without losing a wicket, & if they do, we will be nearly there.
Should make great viewing. Lords looked magnificent yesterday, in the bright sunshine, with no empty seats, & cracking cricket. More of the same please.
Football
The opening day "proper" of the Football Season is known as Christmas Day by the Bookies, & quite right too, the bookies were celebrating late into the night last night.
We held our discipline reasonably well, backed up by good advice from the Elders to keep our money in our pocket.
We did 2 small bets, both for £25 @ Evens, & we got one home, thanks to Rick BFA, well done bud. The other was for QPR to win against a Swansea. We lost 5-0, at home. Luckily, we would not be daft enough to back Laudrup to be the first Premiership Managerial exit. Oh, wait....
Several other bets were stuck up, mostly losers, but we were in a stubborn mood & we swerved the lot. Result.
Two x 5-0 results (oddly, within 5 miles of each other), Arsenal drawing at home to Sunderland, Liverpool getting proper bashed up by WBA, all typical Day One results.
We have a MOBOT bet, but as far as I can tell, not one MOBOT has been sighted, or even anything like. Today is the last day for us to get home with this one. It applies to TELEVISED games only.
Greyhound Racing.
Sawpit Sensation finished THIRD in his Irish Derby heat last night, see...
http://www.racingpost.com/greyhounds/result_home.sd#resultDay=2012-08-18&raceId=1180431
I think that means we are out, but I've left the bet on the sheet just in case. We had £20 on him to win the Derby. Hopefully, I am wrong, & top three qualify!
HorseRacing
We missed a Chompy special, tipped @ 7/1, ended up 5/2 favourite. At the weights, it was the best horse in the race by far, but ended up failing by a nose, racing on the wrong side of the track. As a tip to win, it failed, & was extremely unlucky, as a potential layer-offer, it was brilliant. Probably best not ask what way it was intended, but my AWOL-ness probably saved us a few bob. Unlucky Chomps, so close to his first ever Fred winning tip. Here's some more ground bait for Chomps to chomp on.

Whats coming up?
The Test Max continues, yet another "crucial day" today, the fourth in a row. What a fun bet this has been. We have £150 @ 19/10 on South Africa.
In Football, Wigan play Chelsea in the Televised lunchtime kick off, and the mid-afternoon Televised Super Sundayer is Man City v Southampton. We are on Man City (though just beer money) to win their first 6 Premiership games. Let the Super Six Sweat commence. Don't forget the MOBOT, either.
If you enjoy Spanish football, two cracking live games are televised this evening, Real Madrid v Valencia, & Barca v Real Sociedad.
The Wyndham Golf continues into it's final day, we need Nick Colsaerts to have a good day, & he has every chance.
The Vuelta a Espana Cycling is on ITV4, &, I think, Eurosport.
We rarley bet it, but Moto GP makes tremendous viewing. I think our Moto GP Corry, God help us, is Herbie.
Today it is from Indianapolis, which as a Moto GP venue, is about as scary as it gets. Those guys must be incredibly brave. Fingers crossed they all get home safely.
Enjoy your Sunday, whatever your plans.

Well done you & the others who got on Miss China!
This was a bit awkward, sometimes we can't mention sources, or say too much, & this was such an occasioin, but big thanks to the Gent - a Fred regular - who sussed the coup a long long time ago.
Judging by my PM inbox this morning, a good few of you were able to read between the lines, as I've hinted about it on numerous occaions. I wish I could have stuck it up as a Tip, but it was not mine, & that would have been inappropriate for various reasons.
I was on early at 50/1 & 33/1, (only for small amounts, I got restricted by two different bookies) & with such a thin market, she was soon 20/1, 10/1 & then 5/1, & it was a bit awkward to suggest it after the market had gone.
End of svelte chirp, but you'll have to pardon me on this rare occasion, as I'm thrilled to bits by it.
Anyway, huge thanks to my Miss World Corry.
Oooohhhhh

Rugby league Hull Kingston Rovers v Wakefield Trinity
Having backed Wakefield lat week when they beat St Helens with a last minute drop goal my first inclination was to back them again. To make sure that I was not just doing so out of blind allegiance a coffee and a piece of cake was needed in order to delve deeper.
The form of the 2 sides couldn't be further apart- Wakefield have won their last 4 and Hull KR have won 1 of their last 5. For me the crucial factors were the Hull performances in 2 must win home games in the last month. They lost to an insipid Salford and put in an abject performance in their local derby against Hull FC. These 2 results make Hull KR a team not to be trusted.
The following is from the BBC website.
Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock has a shortage of forwards, with James Green suspended and Joel Clinton injured.
In addition, Blake Green and Jake Webster remain sidelined.
Wakefield have centre Dean Collis, who missed last weekend's meeting with St Helens, back in contention while his replacement, Danny Cowling, retains his place in the squad.
Forward Paul Aiton is likely to sit out the rest of the season because of a jaw injury he sustained away from rugby.
VIEW FROM THE TRAINING GROUND
Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock told BBC Radio Humberside:
"It's difficult having this amount of injuries but what it means is that the young players are getting great experience.
"Apart from one game we've been in every one of our matches over these last few weeks even if we haven't been getting the results.
"We just need a little bit of luck. The bounce of the ball, the tight calls from the referee, if we can start getting those things a bit more then the results will come.
"Wakefield are on fire right now and we need to start well and be competitive."
So I suggest Wakefield Trinity to win £20 @ 15/8 Ladbrokes and £5 the draw @ 20-1.

Sorry hector, but you have omitted the crucial piece of info. What SORT of cake?
Was it this?
http://www.rivercottage.net/recipes/spiced-banana-loaf-cake-with-chocolate-chunks/
PS - We will deffo punt that, details to follow, thank you, & good luck with 3G today, too.
PPS - I note you refer to them as "Trinity", not "Wildcats". That swung it.
You are therefore found Not Guilty of the previous charge.

Wakefield are a rarity in this era of marketing monikers in that they have retained their old and new brandings as suffixes
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats RLFC
Named originally because the founders met in the Holy Trinity Church in 1873
Rather amusingly, before the schism that blew rugby asunder into Union and the inferior game, Trinity competed for the Yorkshire Cup and won it 9 of 13 times
The Yorkshire cup was known as "T'owd Tin Pot" (now competed for in Union only)
Which I quite like
Good luck the Trinity Wildcats today

It was indeed banana/chocolate- I can only ever have 1 cake on the go at any time as they would go stale.
There is something wonderfully endearing to me the teams that have a unique 2nd part to their team name. Preston, Accrington, Plymouth, Sheffield etc. But none of them ever seem to do very well!

Not really a Fred bet, but I’ll throw it out here for those who like a long odds punt.
Vuelta a Espana. Stage 2 Pamplona - Viana 181.4km.
Gianni Meersman, an in form rider with the Belgian team Lotto-Belisol. He was a strong 3rd in Clásica de San Sebastián just 5 days ago. In interviews he’s stated to be looking at stage wins. This relatively flat stage should suit him.
Due to the many mountain stages in this years Vuelta, teams have not brought many quality sprinters, its all about the climbers.
http://www.oddschecker.com/other-sports/cycling/vuelta-a-espana/vuelta-a-espana-stage-2/winner
80/1 is the best out there. I’ve got a £5 on.

Thanks Tonji. You really are into this Cycling lark, yes?
As you say, probably not one for Fred, but I've had a fiver for myself, thank you.
Think the phrase I am supposed to use, having seen it 19 zillion times on betting threads, is "I've had a
cheeky
fiver", but that one always puzzles me. Cheeky? I'm sure we could find a better & more original adjective.

I think both have a certain charm, & it was sad to see Dressage, so incredibly skilful, dissed so much in the Olympics.
Fishing? When the Bucket List is sorted, assuming I ever get that far, that's how I'll spend my days, sat by a lovely lake or river, line cast, reminiscing on life. Can't wait, to be honest.
