Daily Report as @ 0820, Wednesday August 29thWe turned a very pleasing profit of £120 yesterday.
After Fred was near dormant for 2 days, he suddenly went berserk, & somehow accumulated 10 pages (150 Posts) & placed 12 new bets, probably more than we have ever placed in a single day. All things considered, it was an immense relief that we never lost any money, & a nice bonus that we won a bit.
One previous bet completed (horse racing, loser), & we placed 12 new bets, 10 of which completed.
The other two bets were for Golf this weekend, & Cricket, the CB40.
The detail......
Bicycle Race. Not sure if they rode yesterday, but it is "as you were", our chap remains in the lead, 53 seconds ahead of Froome, & 60 seconds in front of
Contador.
http://www.lavuelta.com/Tennis.As Mere has explained, Venus Williams safely negotiated her first round match in the US Open, (we have £20 @ 69/1 on Venus), & now has to play, if I understand it correctly, a Care Bear.
Horse Racing. Two bets, both lost, cost £60.
CricketWe did a little Banzai, & we were never really off in truth. Shame, after wasting an hour with Ladbrokes Customer Care, but these things happen as we negotiate our way to Balla-City. £20.
Football. No less than EIGHT bets yesterday.
4 of them got home successfully, being WBA, for £60 profit (Bobby), Carlisle, £45.50 profit (reds), Bradford, £125 profit (Dung), & Sheff Wed, £42 profit (Aaron).
I really had to agonise over alll those football bets, & almost swerved the whole damn lot. Eventually, I was swayed by the theory we were trying to exploit, as initially outlined, I think, by Bobby & Redarmi.
The logic was that the football betting market is fairly efficient, & rarely offers real value.
However, yesterday was almost like the annual "flying ant day", it only happens rarely, & so has to be exploited.
The bigger Teams in the League Cup are often going through the motions with reserve or youth sides, whilst the small fry are up for it. This means there is unusual value in the long shots, but for the theory to work, we needed to make a lot of bets. Which I did not much relish.
Anyway, we carried it through, had a hairy evening, but we got there in the end, well done all.
We missed a few bets too, mostly losers I'm pleased to say. To exploit the theory properly, I should have accepted the Scunthorpe Bet, but I just could not bring myself to press that button. Herbie was helpful in that respect, & Herbie being helpful is almost as frequent an occurence as the arrival of the cicadas.
PS - We NEED new blood, & its always good when Fred Newbies bink an early winner. Yesterday we managed a £125 profit when Bradford beat Watford, (£25 @ 5/1), so well done this man, especially as he was a homer, betting AGAINST his own team.
