I backed a horse 2 weeks back and although it never won was very impressed with how it ran.  It was out with the washing early having missed the break.  But when the penny dropped it ran on really well over the final 1.5f and wasn't given too hard a ride, Trotter Nicholls did administer a few skelps with the whip but never went overboard.

Look on By - 4:50 Southwell I'd suggest £40- £60 @ 4/1

Yes ran on well, so it good to see it's running over 6f , up from 5f, and on the same all weather track. Only 8 runners so I'll have a nitty bit e/w.

With the League Cup, last year all three promoted sides in the PL went out at this stage, none of them having shown the slightest interest in going any further.
In the league cup these days I often think it is as much about managers as sides and it was warnock in charge of QPR at this point last year and yesterday he was in the press moaning about how his Leeds squad wasn't deep enough to get him through the Championship season and I really can't see him not playing a couple of kids tonight.  Given after getting beat by Rochdale last year he said he was 'glad' they were out I think 6/1 Oxford is too big.

I like this bet, Warnock has plenty of history of giving the cups a wide berth after getting Sheff Utd to go deep in both cup comps one year cost them promotion when they ran out of gas at the business end. Colchester won at our place 2-1 at 7/1 ish one year and obv he did his best to get QPR knocked out early last year too, price has gone a little but I think its a good solid spot.

I was just coming back on to state there seems to have been a fair bit of support for the Mark Johnstone horse.  But I still think its a decent bet and even better that one or two books are going 9/2 if it goes 5's  i'll be going back in.

I think one bet we should look at is WBA away at Yeovil at 4/5, one reason is this price is deffo an old one as it should now be shorter given Steve Clarke has said in his match preview he wants to go well in the cups this season and the travelling squad is pretty strong. I have no doubt he will make changes but these days the Prem squads are pretty talent rich so I am putting this up in the 75 to 100 region at 4/5 with Corals

Yeah i like this too.  I think one thing that tends to be overlooked a bit in the League cup early rounds is momentum and morale and the start to the season.  WBA have had a good start and morale will be high etc and this is prob their best chance of a decent run at something.  On the flip side a poor start to the season can lead to a lack of confidence in these games and more likely to be slip-ups.
