Just a random top up to the Palace argument, it looks probable that we are appointing Michael Appleton.

What do you guys think of our promotion chances with him?

No different than they are now.

Quite frankly I would take someone that would come in and not destabilise! Would be nice.

Matt Slater‏@mattslaterbbc

A bloke who should know tells me Ian Holloway has been approached by #cpfc but "it's far from done"...it will be, tho #blackpool

Yeh it is basically happening. I am hopeful about this and think he can start turning our draws into wins and hopefully still keep our defence solid.

All the way to the Prem? Yes please!

I can't see why the Palace job is more appealing than staying at Blackpool?

We have the best form in the league, unbeaten in 10 winning 7, have the best player in the league in Wilfired Zaha. Have solid players in all positions including one of the top goalkeepers in the league. Also a player in Damian Delaney who hasn't lost all season in the league playing 10 games. He is awesome.

We also play quite an exciting attacking style that Holloway will be able to relate to. I think too he obviously sees the potential to get us promoted automatically. Remember we have recently dispatched of the top two teams in the league in relatively convincing fashion. I wasn't at the Leicester game Tightend before you have a go at me for saying that but i heard reports to suggest we were on top for the majority and the same can be said for the 3-2 home win against Cardiff where we were two goals down, but aside from their goals, controlled the match.

Exciting times at Palace. There isn't a game i don't think we will win, but without Zaha we are almost certainly a mid table outfit.

Hmm, not sure on some of what you said really.

Zaha, best player, really? Maybe if you said one if, then you hit nail on head, but is?

Also, not sure managers look at others jobs and say "gosh, Delaney hasn't lost a game in 10, I'm going to join them" lol. Also you mention solid players, but yet you are questionable at the back?

I'm not really sure you will be up there at the end if the season & most other clubs fans have you down as mid table too. So we will have to see. Also not really sure what IH has to gain from moving from Blackpool to Palace. Nothing much financially & hardly anything between the teams on the pitch to be honest.

Living in London may be more appealing than living in Blackpool. Hell, living in Scunthorpe is probably more appealing than living in Blackpool.
Not having an Oyston as your chairman is probably on the plus side too.

Would only be me and Ant in it though lol

Ant is getting a little bit carried away with palace at the moment.  Yes they are playing well and on a good run but lots of teams have these throughout the season.
we have not won a game by more than 1 goal, that tells you that we are managing to sneak a few wins rather than putting teams to bed.
I was at leicester and in particular the first half was as good a performance going forward as i have seen for a long time. but leicester still had 3 very good chances to score and on another day we get beat.
As you can probably tell i am a bit more of a realist (but then 30 years of supporting palace does that to you) but they are an improving team which is why the next manager appointment is so critical.  On a personal level i would love it to be Ian Holloway. i think we play a similar way to how he likes to set his teams up, he is passionate about football and has done well on a fairly restricted budget.
I still think 8/1 about promotion is about right, and also think that the championship is so close that there are few teams that should be under even money for any game.

Got a tip for you.

There is a team in the championship who are a bit rubbish.  They have been winning their games by the odd goal, which has lead some of their more delusional fans to believe they can win promotion.  The championship is a tough old league.

They are getting a new manager nobody has heard of.

Currently 25/1 to be relegated with betvictor.  Worth a max?

Mods might want to move this to the other thread.

Absurd over hyping of Palace going on here.  Zaha aside 95% of the team wouldn't get in the Watford team and we are 16th.

If your having £50 on anyway take advantage and put the other on straight after kick off.

I know very little about the game of basketball but I have bet on it for many years.

It fits in very well with all the stuff I was saying a thousand pages ago about splitting the result and splitting the money.

Currently we are in a period of the season where 65-70% of money that is bet on the NBA is from the betting syndicates and random professional gamblers. The public are way too involved in NFL and college football and they only have an influence on the market on the live TV games, the games between big teams, the times when there are just one or two big games on a Tuesday or a Wednesday.

The syndicates love home underdogs in all sports and in NBA they bet a lot of 2.5-4.5 point underdogs. They like to pick spots to fade big teams like Miami, Lakers, Thunder etc. Last year they bet the Hornets often and I have heard several pros say they wish to be with the Hornets this year.

On Wednesday the public bet massively against Utah or lost at home as an 8 point favourite while the syndicates were on them.

If I had to guess which was the syndicates would go on this game I would agree with your idea and say the New Orleans Hornets.

Personally though, I would rather wait and be on at +3 and really know that this was a sharp move and they would go off at 1.5 than bet now.

Its the FA Cup first round tomorrow

For someone like me who follows Non League, closely, this is a really interesting betting opportunity

One of those days where you can get mis-pricings because you can know more than an odds-setter.

Arlesey is a village in Bedfordshire. Step 7 of English football. Get crowds of 100, on a good day

Their team comprises six players straight out of league football, and a player who last season scored 40 goals in under 50 games. For the team I am involved with

The team is funded by a multi-millionaire gentleman who owns a big doors and windows company. Obviously its not funded by turnstile receipts etc

Tomorrow they travel to Coventry City

Coventry are vulnerable, and have really not picked up for since Mark Robins was appointed six weeks ago. Have won three times in fifteen games since relegation last season

Arlesey are 11-1 on the outrights.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/fa-cup/coventry-v-arlesey/winner

Coventry can be laid at 1.2 on Betfair

It's worth a speculative interest. Especially because they have goals in them, while at the same time Coventry average a goal a game this season only

Arlesey Town are a bit like Truro, Hornchurch, Canvey and others whose non-league stars burned bright while the finance was available (and then fell to earth with a bang as it is unsustainable without that funding).....not no-hopers in this tomorrow by any means

Suggest either lay £60 at 1.2 Coventry (Liability £12) or £10 Arlesey on the outright at 11-1

Think so. Lots of firepower, and will be giving it a go
