Thread of the year should MVG pull this off! I hope so I have 50-1!

2013, I hand my bok crown over to Spudy.  Smiley

Not a fan of Taylor but he deserved it on the night.

Keep em coming bazza. You have a squiggle next to your name in my lil black book.. no no, nothing filthy. it means bet blind.

MVG was done for chunks @ 1.4 and under on Daq when 2-0 up and plenty @ under 1.5 when he went 4-2.

2014 6-4 Taylor, 4-1 MVG, 8-1 Lewis, 12 Bar?

What price was he when he was 4-2 up?

2/5 4/11 ish

Phil Taylor was available to back at 3.5 or so on Betfair when it was 2-0.  Don't think he was as big at 4-2.

FMP

Laid off so little in the circumstances.

I put up a couple of bets over last few weeks, very nice swerves, both would have lost and affected my ROI!

But I try again...

Aston Villa are EVS at home to Ipswich.

The price is pretty fair, I think reps just a little bit of value.

Why?

Villa have let their fans down so much after leaking so many goals over the last 4 games, I just see this as a chance to repay the fans after such poor showings, against a team, which is a similar position, in a lower league.

Villa been putting out decent teams in League Cup throughout too, whilst in last seasons FA Cup they put out decent teams too.

Their FA Cup selections have been pretty much full sides and looks like they have been up for it when in it:

Away to Bristol Rovers (win 3-1)

22Bradley Guzan
02Alan Hutton
05Richard Dunne
06James Collins
03Stephen Warnock
12Marc Albrighton
07Stephen Ireland
19Stiliyan Petrov
21Ciaran Clark
09Darren Bent
18Emile Heskey

Away to Arsenal (lose 3-2)

Shay Given
02Alan Hutton
05Richard Dunne
24Carlos Cuellar
03Stephen Warnock
07Stephen Ireland
19Stiliyan Petrov
21Ciaran Clark
11Gabriel Agbonlahor
20Robbie Keane
09Darren B

This for me is a MAX bet for me personally. But would recc @ £50-£80 for Fred.

Credit where it is due this is a well researched and argued bet Aaron.  It is also a good contrarian pick.  See we all thought you weren't listening but You might just be getting there.  Hope that doesn't sound too condescending!!!

Thanks Reds.

I seem to have found my feet here & as said weeks ago, it down to you guys, more than myself. As you said weeks ago, you have think about what price you would price X event at and I would not price Villa at EVS myself here, even if they are in poor form, would for me be around 4/5.

Camel mentioned about Ipswich maybe being tired and Fred got on Brighton, and was of course a winning bet. I can only see Ipswich being just as tired against Villa here and Villa are probably capable of fielding one or two squad players to freshen things up here.

In other news, just looked through all my transactions of bets for William Hill online and I have showed a 2012 profit of £464.01, this is my first year online to be fair. But I am sure we have made a 4 figure loss in shop, but I do not calculate that stuff.

Daily Report as at 0845, Wednesday January 2nd

We made a profit yesterday of precisely £300, & we were able to use the blue font for the first time in what seems an age.

In the Football, we had £10 worth of Banzai Fun which did not get there, but as long as we are not losing money, I think we should keep doing these when the opportunity arises.

Still on Football, we at last got with Palace, & timed it beautifully as they bounced back to winning ways v Wolves, so well done Ant (+£40).

Camel gave us a corker for Brighton to beat Ipswich, & they did so in style, 3-0, for a tasty £130 profit. (Recommended at 7/4). Camel has banged the "find an edge" drum since day one, & this was the perfect example, as his view was that the bookies had not taken into account the vagaries of the Xmas fixture list & postponements. Nice when a plan comes together.

Finally, our darts roller-coaster came to an end. No hard-luck stories here, MVG managed to lose 5 straight sets in the most important game of his life, so we were beaten on merit. It was an incredible bet though, & so many of us enjoyed it in so many ways. It certainly vies with the Barnet Bet as amongst the best ever in the fun stakes. (Oddly, both bets lost).

Even so, many folks were on each way, & others had hedged to create a win-win situation. I know for sure that there was over £5,000 on Taylor as a hedge by Freddies who backed MVG at fancy prices.

Fred's final position was £160 invested, & £300 returned, so though we missed the 50/1 wow factor, we still pocketed £140 net, which is very decent money by our standards.

From all of us, kudos, respect & thanks to Bazzaboy for giving us such a fun bet, & as it turned out, profitable too.

Quick mention for Snowball, too, as if it were not for his constant reminding/nagging, we would probably have missed the bet.

Finally, quick thanks to bookiebasher who gave us Evens Taylor when he was odds-on, though later the prices flip-flopped. His generosity cost him £150.

So, we set off into January with £300 in our back pocket.

The "outstanding bets" total has reduced, too, to £811.

All good.
