Then there is The Masters, starting Thursday. Due to the volatility of Golf Betting, I will be limiting the amount we invest on The Masters to no more than £100, £150 tops. The roll is way too thin even for that, really. Am more inclined to punt some shorter-prices & less volatile "specials" than go for an outright winner. Outrights will almost certainly be limited to £10 or £20 if EW.

Really appreciate all the input from everyone, thanks.

Paddy Power are top price for lee westwood, pay 6 places ew and return stake if tiger wins - must be worth 10 ew?

Have decided to back this even before feedback! As it's you, I know you will robustly defend any incoming flak. Deal?

ON

£10 EW with PP @ 20/1, 6 places paid, "money back on losers"  if Tiger wins.

Your Bets When placing an E/W bet, your total stake will be double the amount you enter in the stake box.
Single: Westwood, Lee @ 20/1

Total stake for this bet: £20.00
Potential returns: £270.00

So that is £20 of my Masters allocation gone.

Dilshan and Thirimanne have opened the batting together in two tests.
In the last test v England the partnerships were 11 & 4.
In the other test v South Africa the partnerships were 70 & 12.
Dilshan averages 40.28 in 78 tests and Thirimanne averages 21.72 in 6 tests.

If the conditions are as forecast, it seems a fair bet.

They'll cut it today, but in theory this looks like a result wicket - a bit green and variable bounce

i will propose a cricket bet (makes a change from my racing losers)

sri lankan 1st innings partnership to be under 30.5 runs bluesq 5-6

this looks a very fair bet based on past stats for both the sri lankan openers and the england attack. This is a slightly better price than of late and i presume is because broad isnt playing, however bresnan or finn coming in have at least equal test records so i dont think that should be a worry

£30 at 5-6 is my suggestion

You have not actually said as such, but I assume you mean OPENING partnership? On that basis, I will be getting on imminently.

A bit odd for Sri Lanka to prepare a "result wicket" but I guess the elements have contributed somewhat.

heres some more stats for this one

in 16 of the last 20 test innings sri lanka failed to reach 30

in 15 of the last 20 test innings england took the first wicket before 30

skybet are 24.5 for the same bet even that looks a little high to me

I'm no cricket expert/fan etc... But surely it's just as important (if not more important) to look a opening partnerships at this ground than just the teams opening partnerships.

fair point

in the last six first innings at colombo the opening partnerships were

8, 46, 20, 29, 22 and 114 Sad

i am not sure how relevant these stats are tbh as even with just six first innings they go back to 2009.
