Tal...the LVH (used to be known as the Las Vegas Hilton) like to be thought of as the "home" of golf betting in Vegas.

You can also get fairer prices at the Cantor books. There are around 10 sportsbooks in Vegas that are run by the outside company which is part of Cantor Fitzgerald (large financial trading company). Nearest ones to the strip are the Palms, the Venetain, the Cosmo.

They often have some value in the 72 hole matches...much better than the UK. Tie is a push and 10/11 each of two. The WillHill books sometimes have some softer lines. The Riviera is the nearest to the centre of the strip.

 Good luck.

Fab. Thanks. Will have a look after I've bust scooped the Aria comp.

@Adz I meant whether Wentworth is a course similar in style and difficulty to Pinehurst. As in, someone who does well there might reasonably be believed to transfer their skills to this one. I wasn't asking whether I could hack round in under 90. You donut Cheesy

My long shot bets that I would like you to add to the world cup list...I posted it a few weeks ago on The World Cup thread after The Ecuador Match

I noticed tonight that Cahill and Jagielka went up for every corner/set piece and obv both scored

England are in a difficult group D and are favourites with the bookies not to progress so if that is the case they would only play 3 games so an odd goal could decide the Top England goalscorer market .

Historically these markets have quite often resulted in dead / joint dead heats so with our two first choice centre halves priced at 40 and 80-1 respectively they could be worth a small punt at fancy prices.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/world-cup/england/top-goalscorer

Seen as though I dont post on here often I would like you to bet

£20 Cahill @40-1   and  £20 Jags @80-1  Top England Goalscorer

Do we think they'll both get up there for all set pieces vs Italy & Ur then?

Tonight I've bet small at Welbeck to start vs Italy as he's 'fit' again: 6/4

I know a lot of T's WC portfolio seems to be long shots but I only rate a handful of the bets personally...

...so is the criteria for betting that the found odds are deemed to be 'wrong' rather than what you strongly think will happen? eg would T bet a couple of quid on Honduras winning the WC If odds at 25k-1 could be found (no BF laying allowed)?

Well he should but he might personally not choose to. Its about making money, plain and simple.

simply analogy

Nearly everyone thinks the England Italy game will be low scoring. As a result the 0-0 is the lowest price of any game in the tournament.

If i think it, you think and a lot of people think the market will already no it and reflect that.

Having been 20/1 this morning Roberto Mancini is now into 3/1 to be next Southampton boss, fwiw

He's in Brazil, doing punditry for ESPN, alongside Alexi Lalas and Ruud van Nistelrooy. All three are better than ITV.

He might have been interviewed for the spurs job (I am 95% sure a Spaniard was interviewed, but don't know who. He was certainly believed to be a target), so it isn't out of the question he'd be looking for a move. I'd still be surprised if he left Everton for Southampton, unless there's a problem between him and the club.

The Americans do not like Klinsmann telling the press they cannot win the world cup. Very funny viewing.

As for the golf, the players seem to be saying they'd take par now. Also saying it's playing like Royal Melbourne, which I'm assured suits guys who hit it long and high, with a strong short game. Step forward Mr Day and Mr Watson. Step back Mr Westwood. The analysts over here say, if it softens up, 66 is out there. If not, 69/70 is "a phenomenal round of golf".

May I throw a dart?

Just qualified in what seem to have been difficult conditions. Poor major record but only been a pro for five years. Finished runner up to Rory at Wentworth, which I understand to be a difficult course (?) and took that form to qualify at the end of May. Ireland's Shane Lowry. He's made himself comfortable already at Pinehurst:

http://m.independent.ie/sport/golf/karl-macginty-shane-lowry-takes-trip-from-nowlan-park-to-pinehurst-in-his-stride-30341020.html

His 'team' includes his father Brendan, famously an All-Ireland medal-winner with Offaly in 1982 and the source of his son's passion for all things GAA.

Coach, close friend and mentor Neil Manchip is also in the house. So is another good buddy, Leinster winger Darragh Fanning, whose presence amply illustrates Lowry's regard for rugby, plus Conor Ridge, Colin Morrissey and Ciaran O'Neill of Horizon, who set it all up.

This eclectic bunch are catered for by live-in chef Byron McIntosh from Orlando, a long-time pal of Lowry's management stablemate Graeme McDowell, who stays in the regal Carolina Hotel this week with wife Kristin, a mother-to-be.

McIntosh was up before the proverbial lark yesterday, ensuring Lowry was well fortified for his first round (11 holes, actually) at Pinehurst.

220 on betfair for the win only. 150/1 generally with the bookies for the each way punters. I assume you want the places?

Tal, word of advice, before you make a recommend on a subject, maybe not the best way to gain commitment to a golf bet by asking if Wentworth is a tough course....

FWIW I have had a bet on Lowry for first round leader. I can see him starting well, as he fits the criteria for playing the course well, and he has been a recognised fast starter. I cant see him sustaining it though, even if he does get off to a flier.
Have also backed him e/w for 1st round leader. 125/1 still there on WH.

Looking to bet on Argentina not to concede in the group stages, has anyone seen a market like this?

Haven't seen the above but thought this was interesting

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/world-cup/team-to-concede-least-goals

If England, and they aren't favourites to, don't qualify, how many are they really going to concede, 1,2,3?

Went to Cosmopolitan (laziness the deciding factor) and was surprised how much better its book was.

11/1 Mickelson (from 15/1)
12/1 Rory
13/1 Scott
etc.

Much better.

Had Todd to beat Francisco Molinari in a head to head, too. Todd opened at -110 (10/11) this morning, but is now +107 (just over 21/20).

One of the bars in the Monte Carlo is advertising that it is showing every game of the World Soccer Championships. We should send them Andy Townsend. I reckon they'd get on.

It's here.

World Cup 2014 kicks off tonight.

Brazil v Croatia first up.

Fred 9/2 to net first, got to bet Fred surely?

I like a drink.

But I don't think I would want to be in that round.

Much discussion about England's pitch.

English F.A. flew in Wembley groundskeeper to look at goal mouths.

Roy had this to say in latest press conference.

Here's a spectators bridge from subway to Stadium in Sao Paulo

Can you imagine it with 10,000 people on it?

Here's David James' starting XI.

Give him the job I say.

Mate of mine supports Liverpool.

And managed to get some random to take his photo with Mascherano.

Latest Nike advert.

Staunch West Ham supporter, Michelle Obama, had this to say after hearing Big Sam was staying on.

Name these two?

Later.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/world-cup/highest-rated-player-settled-using-whoscored-com

Good to see this market

It is quite easy to see the historic ratings players get in the big 4 leagues (epl,la liga, bundesliga and serie a)

Obviously these are club ratings but players will play generally in a similar way and if they are earning points via whoscored by the way they play then they should for the country as well.

It is hardly an appealing each way heat so i suggest 3 small win bets, 1 slightly bigger bet and a small saver.

£10 win on the following

Yohan Cabaye 66-1 either firm. Always fared well on the ratings when at newcastle and still does for Psg, looks certain to play all/most games.

Juan Guillermo Cuadrado 50-1 vcbet. Top of Serie A over the whole season looks certain to play all of Colombia's games big price.

Ivan Rakitic 50-1 lads. Will play all games rates highly in la liga ratings.

£20 on the following

Alexis Sanchez 80-1 lads. Very big price despite a lot not thinking he is brilliant for Barca a constant top 10 force for Barca in the la liga ratings. Given he plays better/ is used more for Chile hard to see him not doing at least as well.

and the saver is very obvious

£5 Messi 10-1 vcbet. Always clear in La Liga if Argentina get to the semis and play well i am certain he will be there or close.

Players must play in at least two world cup games to count towards the bet, despite the element of randomness over two appearances that should be eliminated to a degree.

I had an original "shortlist" of at least 10 very hard to narrow down and i have come up with the four bets left mainly due to price and the fact they appear very likely to be key players for their nations.
