A speculative one

Against Algeria, Neuer had 21 touches outside his box

He was such an effective sweeper, with the high line the German back four played and the lack of pace that they have that he was a very good "false number five"

Germany were also vulnerable down both flanks, as i wrote about.

Anyway, Hummels back today but no indication that the German back four will play deeper and i would hope Deschamps will play Griezmann not Giroud with Benzema, most likely in a 3 off him. Griezmann is quick, and changed the game against Nigeria

All it takes is for Neuer to mistime one of his charges out of the box and any of the following might be in business

in our favour we have a spicy france-germany rivalry

not in our favour would be stats of sending offs for the german national team. there aren't many!

anyway, i think the game is a pick-em, and france are just under 2/1 outright, which may be an opinion i can defende better than a sending off banzai!

I don't understand the France odds either.  Definitely a pickem affair.

As for the red cards, it seems that you need to take someone's head off just to get a yellow card under the new directives, so don't fancy a red much (although I guess professional foul is a professional foul)

Sportsbook have just put a very interesting market

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/summer-transfer/premier-league-club-to-sign-most-players

First thoughts with spending one minutes is Liverpool at 14's look fair?

Signed 3 already if/when Suarez goes presumably will sign at least 2 with some of that

Any Views? Suppose Qpr are a worthy fav for obvious reasons

9/5 Germany 15/8 France is as close to a pick em as you get bar making them 9/5 each?

Surely if you fancied France the bet is 8/1 in the overall?  Germany are 5/1.   Alternative is to back Germany for the match.  Feels like you should do at least one of them anyway.

Would Southampton be a consideration, having sold half their team?

Actually think Brazil are now a fair price myself

All opinions

Have backed them small and saved on no goalscorer

Thoughts on no goalscorer in the Arg/Bel game horsey? 7/1 general, 11/1 Stan James

When I say 7/1 general, I also mean next best. The 11/1 has to be a bet surely.

at 11/1 it has to be a bet i think. Belgium are real grinders at the best of times and can only presume they will try to shut down the game a bit even more tonight.

Not a regular here any more but think "Robben to be booked for diving" @ 11/1 looks worth a punt with 888 - maybe a sensible £5/£10? Was mentioned in the bettingon.com write up.

First thing this morning I read something about a small problem with flu affecting one or two of the German players. It seems at least 6 or 7 unnamed players have been suffering. Isn't this the reason why France have shortened tonight and also why France are longer than Germany to win despite the match odds tonight being very close? (if Germany get through the players will regain health and their outright chance will be stronger than France if they go through).
