It's tough to choose between Mardy #1 & Mardy # 2.

More seriously, this was quite a performance by Mardy Monty.

He was in great shape after Day Two but had a horror Day 3, & was 4 shots in arrears. He eventually sealed the deal in a play-off.

He also won the PGA Seniors a month or two back.

Don't forget, he's bound to be the voice of the Ryder Cup. Could be a winner, that.

I'm glad Monty's talent is being rewarded, but as you say, he remains very difficult to like out on the course. Any bad shot is greeted with a sneer etc.

His redeeming feature, though, is is does recognise it when back commentating.

A defo no to SPOTY for me.

Justin Rose could well end up World No 1 by the end of the year, the way he is playing. He was super solid yesterday, but sadly has the personality of a bowl of porridge. He tries to be a fist pumpy sort of it never comes out with conviction, but if he does win the Open, he must be hard to ignore in a year, where, so far, it looks to be won by default.

I still hope Mo can win in style at the Commonwealth. Despite his positive attitude and continuing efforts the SPOTY family has yet to take to him, but if ever there was a year.

A real leftfield one maybe someone like James Desolu, the new fastest man in Europe this year, and second only to Linford in the all time quickest British men. I gather the track at C Games, is pretty quick, and him winning the 100m and taking Linfords time could make him a contender.

However, even though Sporting Greats like Stephen Bunting are quoted, this guy isn't. lol

Desaolu didn't make the commonwealth squad. Neither did our second fastest, Ujah.

LOL, shows what I know, but just as importantly how daft our selection process is.

Move along, nothing to see!!

Very much. I don't easily take a dislike to many, but I find it really difficult to admire him as a person.

As a golfer, "Best Golfer never to win a Major" might be stretching it a bit, but he really thought his way round a golf course, & rarely wasted a shot.

Reminds me of the poker players who just keep getting the lot, Simon Deadman for example, it's hard to see WHY they are so good, & what exactly they do to  be so consistently good.

I'm genuinely pleased for him though, two Senior "Majors" back to back, & that might just make him a little less bitter, & get that chip off his shoulder.

Convo between him & Mrs M on the golf Course when he is having a bad day must be quite interesting.
