Not sure you have the appetite for another cricket bet, but here goes

The England v West Indies ODIs start on Saturday

A 3 match series

1st ODI: England v West Indies at Southampton
Jun 16, 2012 (10:45 local | 09:45 GMT)
2nd ODI: England v West Indies at The Oval
Jun 19, 2012 (10:45 local | 09:45 GMT)
3rd ODI: England v West Indies at Leeds
Jun 22, 2012 (10:45 local | 09:45 GMT)

Chris Gayle returns to the international arena after 15 months of mutual bottom lip jutting by both him and the selectors. Lendl Simmons is the other notable recall to the ODI team after he missed the home matches against Australia. Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell also come in having been in the IPL

It is thus a different proposition to the test team, which in itself showed more gumption than many of us expected via people in this squad like Samuels, Sammy, Roach and Ramdin. The squad is missing the Test top 3, which looked out of their depth in English conditions

Recent form, WI drew 2-2 in a 4 match series with Australia at home

For England, minus Pietersen, Bell opens with Cook and I worry about their batting strike rate in this format. In theory, the WI outgun them

West Indies best priced 6/5, Eng 8/11

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/england-v-west-indies/england-v-west-indies-odis/england-v-west-indies-%5B1st-odi%5D/winner

West Indies are not underdogs to my mind in this format, and should be backed at odds against.

Excellent.

We have £50 @ 23/20 with BWin, WI to win the 3 match series v England.

Taken from 3G's blog.

Thursday, June 14th 2012

Double bogey at 1 and 3 and at that time the 2 putts for par at the 4th were very important. From there at +4, I had 3 birdies and 1 bogey at the 16. Didn't drive the ball quite well, but we fixed it at the practice at the end of the day. For lower trajectories, Mich corrected my posture with a need of being closer to the ball to play the kind of shots I wanted...
Wake up call for Friday's round will be at  5.00... Play at 7.22 AM.

He seems to have had a reasonable start. Do you have him and McDowell e/w?

Check if they have drawn series quoted in cricket- WI should be 6-4 if they do as rain is a possibility

Check if they have drawn series quoted in cricket- WI should be 6-4 if they do as rain is a possibility

As far as I could see, it was only a win for either quoted.......

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/england-v-west-indies/england-v-west-indies-odis/england-west-indies-odis/series-winner

....except that Betfair quote the draw, too, & pretty much at the price you suggested.

And whilst checking that, I've just realised that I made the wrong bet completely - it appears I backed the FIRST ODI only.

fct'.yc'.yh#'x.'.
][/ge.

....which would explain why I only got 23/20, & not 11/8.

So I'll take that bet I made off-thread, for myself.

So, for the "Series" Bet, as recommended by Tighty, assuming you were betting it, which way would you do it? 6/4 WI?

6/4 must be good, compared to the price with no draw option

Bookings Sweden/England

Both had 2 booked game 1, this should be a robust game with Carroll up against Scandinavian bearded behemoths, much at stake all round. Both teams are not possession led passing style teams, so this could see more direct confrontations

Referee Damir Skomina will take charge of England's Euro 2012 Group D game against Sweden.

Uefa has confirmed the appointment of Damir Skomina, the Slovenian referee who so infuriated Arsène Wenger as Arsenal bowed out of the Champions League last season, to officiate England's match with Sweden in Kiev on Friday.

Skomina actually took charge of six games involving Premier League clubs in Europe last season, showing 32 yellow cards and one red. That dismissal was for Benfica's Maxi Pereira in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea, though English teams have suffered red cards at his hand in the recent past.

He refereed Holland v Denmark this week, 4 yellows

The question is which booking market, if we want to be long of "card points" is the most attractive

Paddy Power have time of first booking under 27 minutes at 5/6

BWIN over 3.5 bookings appears priced in at 8/15

BWIN has a red card (one only) at 17/5

Betfair has http://sports.betfair.com/football/market?id=1.105898161

10 points are awarded for a yellow card and 25 points for a red. Two yellow cards leading to an automatic red will score as one yellow and one red card. Maximum 35 points per player. Cards will only count which are shown to players after they take to the pitch for the first time and before they leave the pitch for the final time. This market will be suspended at kick off. All bets apply to 90 minutes of play according to the match officials, plus any stoppage time.

Betfair's own column tips 25-45 points at 2.76 http://betting.betfair.com/football/euro-2012/euro-2012-tips/euro2012-day-seven-tips-bet-on-benzema-150612-194.html

"Bookings
There were only two bookings when these two met in a friendly in November. There were three in the World Cup meeting in 2006. England had two bookings in their opener last week, as did Sweden. It'll be a robust, fair, matey affair because the players know each other pretty well. A wager of 25-45 booking points at 2.75 looks shrewd."

Favourite in that market is over 45 points at 1.94

So many of the above factors are anticipated, I suppose

Open to thoughts here, please...about which of these, or other discipline bets, is value

I think its worth a banzai on Ashley Cole to be first player booked. He gets booked a lot, up there with the most prolific and does like to give the star player a big wallop early to let em know hes there and IBRA usually starts out on that side of the pitch, he gets away with it loads as he does it in the first 2 mins usually.

14/1 with PP available.

Going to try and take advantage of a market that is offered at roughly the same prices every game but might be wrong in the eng v Sweden game.

Have 40 quid at 4/1 with bluesq on 'header' in the method of first goal market in the eng game.

6 of the last 7 goals Sweden have conceded have been headers and 7 of the last 11.

Both goals by the UKraine were headers too and they clearly have a problem defending against high balls, Hodgson is too good a manager to let that go unnoticed and is starting with Carroll today SWeden have IBrhimovic in attack who is a real handful in the air too.

Price is usually about 4/1 in every game , I think this is a little different given the stats and two huge strikers playing and plenty of threats from set pieces.

Cheers

Got it, thanks. Almost quirky.

£40 @ 4/1, Blue Square, Sweden v England, first goal to be a header.

I think "Banzai", in this case, means "daft but fun". Silly bets @ silly prices.  Don't tell the Elders, that sorta thng.

US Open cut? Top 60 & ties, currently projected to be +4.

Seems to fit, & be a "spot".

I'm interested in the "mechanics" of that price Tom. Seems sweet, but I get warned so often about these sort of markets being bad value. Can you waffle something suitably persuasive in that area?
