We may get a Channing special as its Xmas, on the Ladbroke, but FWIW, I am quite keen on Pine Creek, in what will be, one of those "no bad bet races"

16s generally but 5 places with Slybet for those that can

C&D winner, ran an amazing race in this last year, and clearly been plotted up. Lovely intro for the season in the Greatwood. And even got Sammy Twister on. All set fair for a decent run I hope.

GL

Thanks Adzy.

With news of Cook leaving his post is there an outside chance of England doing something in the World Cup? 10/1 still feels abit skinny for some reason.

firstly, it has to be the right decision, and strengthens the ODI team

you need strike rates of 90+ up top, and scores of 300+ to be competitive under the regulations these days

that said, of the non favourite (ie not aus, safrica, india) teams for a poke i'd take New zealand at 8-1 as a better hope at home...and do the usual value play of hoping they get to the semis and get a bit of luck from there

like their firepower with the bat and the depth in seam bowling

Definitely too skinny, as are NZ at 8/1.  I actually think both prices will actually drop slightly before the start, especially NZ as the public will be all over the home teams.  If you want to bet either of those teams (I strongly suggest you don't!) then do it sooner rather than later

Nobody will lay a proper bet at this stage but if I can get 9/2 or better on SA closer to the time I'll certainly be getting involved

Mark Wright gets a message of support on It Takes Two now from his mum, his sister and his nan "I wish your grandad was 'ere to see you dance". Cue waterworks. He's been a PR machine this week.

Think Bruno is wearing Ed Gascoigne's trousers..?

Agree they are better value than England but they've gone from 10/1 to 8/1 in the last couple of months.   It's certainly not recent form that's caused the price drop - a decent showing vs Pakistan but nothing special (W5 L4 in all formats).  I think any value has gone, especially as the bookies will know they are going to get a relatively high number of bets on them* so they are going to be over cautious when pricing the 2 home teams up.   If anything I think they'll end up too short.  I'd happily lay 7/1 on them if I get a chance on Betfair / Matchbook in a month or so.

If the tournament was in England I think New Zealand would be around 12/1 best price?  Conditions aren't too different, although home crowd and being based in 1 area is a nice advantage.  That said, I haven't properly looked into the tournament yet and won't be doing so until during the warm up games, so you may well be right.

*There was an article before the 20/20 WC about the high % of bets home teams receive in international cricket tournaments.  Obviously you'd expect that to a certain extent (I'm sure it is the same in any sport) but it was a really high amount.  Although home advantage is very important in this sport, the article implied that because it's a well known fact, the public over-compensate for it.  I can't find teh article at the moment, but I'll look properly when I have more time

thats all fair enough

south africa of the big three seems reasonable, though they too have shortened. 6/1 was around 3 weeks ago

last major tournament in england was i think a champions trophy, nz went off 10-1 and i think they are a better team now

you can't back the west indies, the pakistani batting is flaky etc...so i think reasons NZ are shortening

a) at home, as you say
b) recent form
c) absence of other "playable" outsiders

but there is no rush to do anything

Anyone got a view on Bolton at Millwall on Friday night.

Lennon seems to have them well organised conceding only 2 goals in last 6 games.

They have lost a couple of young forwards to injury though.

Thought 27/10 might be a bit of value against an inconsistent Millwall?

I'd appreciate any thoughts.

i like this

looking at the form tables on http://www.soccerstats.com/formtable.asp?league=england2

last six games (lennon appointment on) Bolton are in play off form

i watched them on tv once, away at norwich i think. short of a goalscorer (shipped off beckford quickly, then clayton was injured) and width, but lennon has them organised and difficult to beat.

Millwall should be beatable by an improving side?

£20 on then?

unfortunately there has been no other comment either way, and the match is tonight..so

Millwall v Bolton Wanderers Bolton Wanderers (Match Betting - 90 Mins) Odds: 27/10 Stake: 20.00 Possible Return:  74.00
winner for Rick, well done

Nice one Rick, I effed this up I thought I had backed it as part of a double but the bet never submitted and I had that many tabs open at the time I never realised.  Online streaming is not for the win when your trying to bet at the same time.

Like the look of Bolton

like a different unit at the back with the same players which says it all about the job Lennon has done and Freedman did not...

Will need Pratley and Trotter et al to keep chipping in with goals, sure Lennon will be looking for a striker in the loan window though.

No co-incidence he shipped out Beckford asap he can spot a wrong'un
