the Superbowl is on Sunday

I know tikay would be interested in having a portfolio of bets in his pocket to watch the game with

These might be points spreads, over/unders or prop bets

The thread has, in its three years, had action on length of national anthem, Madonna at half time, coin toss, who will the MVP thank first etc etc

the wackier the better

all the various markets are at

http://www.oddschecker.com/american-football/nfl/new-england-patriots-at-seattle-seahawks/betting-markets

last year 50-1 pokes came in for MVP first scoring play etc

this time round you can guess the colour of Belichick's hoodie, katy perry's first song, her outfit colour, her hair colour etc etc

over to you to research and report back

give us a selection of bets and we can go from there

according to sports insights only 30% of bets are on the seahawks, by far the lowest of any nfl week this season

this for a team who have the top defense in the league, the number 1 running game, have won 8 of 8 and 11 of 12

the line is steady enough at "pick em"

That makes no sense to my naive eyes - I had assumed Seahawks would be decent favourites.

Incidentally, packaged highlights, in 4 sections, of the Super Bowl Betting Preview from Ch 861 are now on the Sky Poker You Tube Channel. I'll try & find the links shortly.

Crystal Palace are 11/4 to finish above Newcastle United in the Premier League following John Carver's appointment

This is b365 so may not be for the thread, but

Carver has W0 D1 L3

Pardew P2 W2 in the league

Palace are 4 points behind with 16 games to go

they have to play each other at palace on 11 Feb

What do you think of the 11/4?

Have they still got this? Only match bet I can see is Newcastle v Sunderland.

sorry for the delay, have been travelling south for the night

i checked with bet 365

" Steve Freeth ‏ @stevefreeth

@tighty Afternoon Rich - that one is available over the phone - 08000 322365, still 11/4 at mo"

I like that bet Rich, think we should try & get a bit on.

if you want to you need to phone up. they might not lay you much on a 1% account though

TIGHTY

I'm not sure I ever confirned it on Thread, but Bobby1 offered to lay us this bet privately, & I accepted, £20 @ 11/4, to be settled, either way, at the end of the season. (Palace to finish above Newcastle).

I seem to be struggling to get many responses at the moment, let alone recommendations (something i said?) but here are some more semi-ideas/questions for this weekend

1 Murray is an over 2/1 underdog for Sunday

http://www.oddschecker.com/tennis/australian-open/mens/novak-djokovic-v-andy-murray/winner

He has over 24 hours more rest than Djokovic who went to five sets this morning?

any value in murray? any value in murray taking it to four or five sets? buynig games?

--

2

football this weekend

chelsea v man city tomorrow, with Costa suspended

chelsea have weakened a touch to 6/5

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/chelsea-v-man-city/winner

worth backing or opposing?

--

3

anything for the racing tomorrow? some of the fields are quite small, and i suppose postponements are likely but sandown, wetherby etc if anyone sees anything

--

4

england made the odi warm up series final this morning, chasing 200 to beat India on a pudding

they are over 2/1 to beat Auatralia on sunday

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/odi-tri-series/australia-v-england/winner

interestingly the final is at perth too, i think i heard it was on the same pitch

are england 2/1 dogs to upset the world cup favourites on a slow seamer?

I think Murray is playing his best tennis for many years.  Finally unhindered by injury.  I think he'll give it a good go tomorrow and it will be a long game either way, but looking at the spreads that seems to be what is expected.  Total points 264 to buy, whereas it's normally around the 250 mark for a competitive match.  Wouldn't want to be a seller though.

One for discussion - there is a market for "1st player to hold serve to love".   Both are great returners and it seems to me whoever serves first should be favourite, so backing Murray at odds against (Laddies) doesn't look the worse punt in the world in what is a coinflip punters market.

Also think the first couple of sets where both players are fresh are going to be very close.  Tiebreaks can be backed at 11/4 in each of the frist set.

Dutching them returns a profit if one set goes to a breaker with a bumper payout if they both do.

Thoughts?
