unlucky titch, 98 and done in by an unlawful decision

Can you explain what happened, please?

I was WORKING, up at DTD, on UKPC stuff, no time to watch TV.

England were getting smacked, but at 240-9 Taylor was 98* and having batted brilliantly a hundred was in sight

On the ball pictured above, the Umpire gave him out LBW

Taylor referred it, and the decision was overturned. not out

meanwhile Anderson had been run out, but as you can see from the picture after the decision had been made

by rights, the moment the finger goes up its a dead ball, see the rule above, but the umpires on the field ruled Anderson out anyway

England lost, and were going to lose heavily anyway, but the Taylor hundred (or the chance of it if the correct rule had been applied) would have been nice

Would that explain the somewhat bizarre scores being widely reported on the BBC & elsewhere this morning?

Australia Innings342 for 9 (50.0 overs)
England Innings231 for 10 (41.5 overs)

Never seen or heard "for 10" before, but it was even stated on the Radio 4 News.

such reporting is always incorrect yes. All out, please. Never "for 10" This isn't prep school, BBC.

Afternoon.

Rather quiet round here!

See what I can do to help.

My mole at one of the Big 4 tells me connections of Ma Filleuile have had rather a tasty bet on her to win the Ryanair. The weights are in her favour today and I had a small bet on her yesterday, and the price has come in somewhat since then. I notice WH have their "win today and at Cheltenham" Market up and have her at 40s to wn both. Probably worth a token tenner for Fred.

You mentioned the jockeys title next year whilst I was away, and I needed to get on before I put it up. Got restricted but the 50s remains, with 635

I think for a throw away fiver/tenner Aiden Coleman looks terrific at 50-1. One of the most talented guys out there, he has Venetia and Emma Lavelle as his current go to stables. Venetia will do her bit this year, but EL has a vastly underperforming team this year, but plenty of nice bumper horses. I suspect she may have some long term issues, but next year the majority of her team will be so well handicapped, she has to start performing, if she can sort out the underlying issues.
He has started to get more outside rides, is pretty hardy and rarely injured(touch wood). As the Racing UK rep, his profile will only go one way, and it wouldn't be a shock if he is a benefactor of the fallout when the music stops, following the changes, post McCoy.

Plenty of ifs in there, but at 50s for small beer, if you can get on somehow(?). Please though, no daily updates stating how badly he is doing, once a month will suffice!

Anyone fancy Clondaw Knight in the 2:40 at Ascot?

Can't understand the drift to 4/1. Looks an opposable favourite ahead to me. Does mean backing Scudamore and it's up a fair bit of weight but there's not much else on the card and I am surprised to see the price.

Anyone?

Sadly Ma Filliuele ran a cracking race to finish only second, even more so as Hendos still don't seem in great form.

A great prep for the Ryanair for which she remains available at 12s, although one firm were impressed enough to slash he into !!

The way Henderson was gurning, I don't think he'd have run her if he could have gotten away with it.

Not sure why, because the horse has won in heavy before?

Definitely a wide open Ryanair, and should be a very interesting race come March.

Should we back it for the ryanair? or not?

or wait for all the offers in the days before for better terms?

win only?

12/1 e/w 1,2,3 is widely available
