declaring for a lead of 325 had no risk whatsoever imo
Completely disagree.
SA are 1-0 in the series and this is last game, why the hell would they risk NZ going for it when they only need a draw?

Tennis news.

Victoria Azarenka was 10/1 when she was 1-6 0-4 down against Dominika Cibulkova this evening.
She eventually won 1-6 7-6 7-5 to retain her unbeaten record this year.

In her opening match Azarenka beat Mona Barthel 6-4, 6-7 (4/7), 7-6 (8/6) after being 1-4 down in the final set.

If these were cricket matches, people would be investigating. Cheesy

New Zealand are 33/3.
Morkel's figures are 8-5-5-3.
Good of him to save it for the 2nd innings.

We are close to month end, & almost @ break-even, so I'm nitting up a bit.

Consider yourself severely reprimanded for such a comment.  Would you fold or only flat call Aces because you were already winning a buyin for the session or up for the month and it was the end of the month.  The long run is all that matters and in the long run this thread will be a winning one.  Bets like the ones on players stats in the NBA are very lucrative if you understand the sport properly and Jeff seems to.  It won't be long before you look back on your ability to get on bets like this without compromising your accounts for the sake of £100 or so so take them now whilst you still can.  Don't compromise a short term result for winning overall and treat every bet in a vacuum.

Hibbert scored 11 points but was only 3 for 6 from free throws - grrr.

NZ 85/5.
Morkel 10-5-8-5.

Excellent decision to nit it up Teacake lol. Our boy Roy managed to score two point in the whole second half, missed all his free throws, finished with 11, we needed 12. Kris Humphies was even worse, he had the offest of off nights. Loads of weird results in the NBA tonight, bad day to bet with logic I'm afraid. Miami are less than 2/1 to win the championship yet it looks wide open to me

He missed the last two with two mins left when just one woulda got us a push, nice of him. Kinda standard for a 7ft2 guy. Not standard is the ridic jumping pass he tried when he had an open path to the basket with a minute left and our money on him. It was caught by someone in about row J

South Africa 474/9d & 189/3d
New Zealand 275 & 200/6 (80.4 ov)
Match drawn

M Morkel    16.4-7-23-6 in the second innings.

At lunch in the England game:

Sri Lanka 318
England 57/3

Tighty's irresistible logic looks to be on the mark again.

Daily Report delayed whilst a Stewards Inquiry took place on the Philander wager.

Philander was "only" JOINT highest wicket taker. He took a 6 for, & in the 2nd Innings, Morkel repeated the exact same trick.

I asked itt yesterday what would happen in this event, & Mere stated (I think) that with some bookies, it goes to the guy who conceded least runs.

Philander took 6-81

Morkel took 6-23

So i thought we may have been pipped @ the Post.

I placed the bet with Blue Square, & have just looked at my Account History, & they appear to have settled the bet in our favour. (Below is C & P from "My Account").

22.03.12 11:52 Single £50.00 3rd Test - New Zealand v South Africa Top Wicket Taker (1st Inns) - SA Vernon Philander 5/2 £175.00

The £175 is shown in the "Returns" Column.

So I THINK it was deemed a winner. Does anyone know the exact Blue Square rules on this?

Sheesh, I never realised that.

So we could have "won" the bet on the 2nd innings & & still lost?

Jeez.

Result!

Don't suppose there is also a T & C that says the Match Result is settled on the 1st innings?......

I assumed that you read my post on page 115 which clearly stated that the market was for the first innings before placing your bet.
When you made a recent post that seemed to indicate that you didn't realise this, I thought that I would let you enjoy the sweat.  Wink

Philander has now played 7 tests and has won this market in the last 5 matches.
