Newbury Racecourse's Best Dressed Gent. And What?

Am I missing something here?

1.47 Sri Lanka seems ludicrously huge.

Still 2.5 days to go, no rush to get there, I guess that's reflected in the price?

Could well be part of it...and cricket betting isn't normally my bag....but this would be something like the 12th highest 4th innings run chase of all time...on a pitch that doesn't exactly seem a flat batting track, against a reasonable bowling outfit...with most leading batsmen out of form.

*shrugs shoulders, steams in, hopes for best*

Agreed

SriLanka win this 98 times out of 100. (watch the 2 ball come in when I am on them)

Don't let us down Tighty, we need this win!

Great pre-match analysis. The reality was nothing like it, but any way will do,.....

reality was extremely like the analysis! so far

His grandmother could play these with a stick of rhubarb.

Boycott is wonderful on TMS. Not sure if anyone caught the "in the shower and the power went off" Sri Lanka monologue, but it was hilarious

This isn't a "Tip for tikay" (yet), it's more of an observation.

Following Dubai's comments on the sixes markets in the first West Indies v Australia T20I, I've just checked out the "Most sixes" for the 2nd T20I on Friday.
Australia are 13/8 at Boylesports (11/8 generally). It would seem foolhardy to bet this far in advance of the game with no idea of the teams but it is very tempting. Wink

Might I suggest a small EW investment in Caroline Hedwall @ 40/1 in this weeks ladies' golf major The Kraft-Nabisco tourney.

She's a great player for the future and probably doesn't have a great deal of course knowledge but the 40/1 with your employers and a couple of other spots seems generous to me. I'm on.

Suggested & implemented, thanks Ralph.

£25 EW with Ladbrokes, @ 40/1.

Selection40/1 - Caroline Hedwall

Event2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship

MarketTournament winner
Your bets (1) Single - Caroline Hedwall - Each Way

2 lines at £25.00 per line
Total stake for this bet: £50.00
Potential Return: £1300.00

Good market move for Sheff Utd- excellent bet at 8-15 so credit where its due to Aaron and Fraser

Ps- no comment from me on the cricket analysis in general in the thread but pitches deteriorating badly on day 2? Using stats that include UNCOVERED wickets to discuss historical run chases? Bowling attacks where the 4 bowlers averages look more like frontline batsmen being described as anything other than dross? (just so u can laugh- their opening bowling attack averages 39 and 54 lol, and their 2 destructive spinners average 34 and 43, give Dilshan a mention as his average as their 5th bowler is relatively respectable in comparison at 41)

Make no mistake about it, this is the worst Sri Lanka bowling attack in history. But prices reflect that now and it looks priced correctly. Between Montys drops in 1st innings and Broads no ball, its cost England 120 runs and a comfortable victory. Big first hour tomoro, the pitch is a decent one and will play at its best for that period as all dust would have been swept off. If England dont lose a wicket they will be odds on. Prepared to bet this with anyone if they want? Ie bet is "if after one hours play England havent lost a wicket, Englands price to back on betfair will be less than 2.0"

Ive got massive red on Sri Lanka, so hope England can do it, but think they will go odds on and lose

The first galle test was 1991 I believe. There has never been a test match on an uncovered galle pitch. I made the recommendation in full knowledge that the sl attack is second rate. Anyway, good sweat for tomorrow.

Tbf i didnt mind your analysis. But obviously you should have laid the draw given it was 2-1 and you made it a million Smiley

Only thing you forgot to say was that Englands previous scores can near enough be discounted in comparison to this one, especially when chasing because of Murali. I actually liked the draw lay you basically advised at the time, but you backed SL instead of doing it but identified it as value anyway, because it did look a result game, more based on shocking shot selection than anything else.
